WordCamp Europe 2019 – Community Team Plans

We are less than two months away from WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Europe 2019, which means it’s time to get organised!

WordCamp Europe and WordCamp US are what we consider flagship events and are always a great opportunity for teams to get together, contribute and onboard more people. There are going to be a whole lot of us present and we should take advantage of that and maximize our time together.

As we did last year, please add in the comments ideas and suggestions for tasks we could work on together while in Berlin.

I will be available to lead the table: do the initial presentation, take on one macro task of group of people to work during the day but I think there should be at least other two Community Team experienced members that can help with guiding people throughout the day.

Deadline to comment is May 19 so we can discuss this during the next two Community chats: after that date I will summarise in a “squad goals” post (like the one we had last year) and we will go from there!

It would be a good project to establish an agile way of translating community manuals into other languages. Something similar to the system used to translate plugins and themes. In the diversity speaker project in which I am also using a software called Omegat – http://omegat.org/

- We should find all the tutorial posts in this p2, and to add them as articles/pages in our handbooks. For example: the new Budget Tool tutorial, the post/info about the cloner, the info about the planning tool, etc…

  I also think that the task of moving tutorials to the handbook is something that anyone could do regardless of their experience with the team.

I can help with guiding less-experienced and new community team members/contributors 🙂

Few ideas for tasklist:
- Closing and resolving old threads, or activate the conversation again (maybe in new P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/. post) if the issue/topic still needs more conversation or work before resolving it. Francina gathered the Open threads -sheet some time ago.
- Working with Needs documentation list items

For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. team could run for us as a custom query, if there’s no list already. /pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM).
