We are very happy to announce that we already have date and venue for the WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. We will meet on November 24th of the current year at the World Trade Center Montevideo. This is located at Av. Luis A de Herrera 1248. You can check more details of the venue in worldtradecentermontevideo.com.uy.
The event will have one track a full day and in the coming days we will be opening the call for speakers. The camp will be receiving talks until October 26 at 11:59 p.m. (Montevideo time, Uruguay). The organizers are looking to bring together the best local and international speakers, and at the same time offer them a space to tell their stories and delight us with their experiences.
It should be noted that the talks will be approximately 30-40 minutes long with an additional 10 minutes for questions of the attendees. Priority will be given to original and creative talks.
Some of the main topics that we suggested are Business, Content, Marketing, SEO, Design, Development and Community.
They will release a form for volunteers (next week) too. Or you can send a email to montevideo@wordcamp.org. There are a lot of tasks in which help is needed. For example, some of the tasks would be:
Distribute accreditations to attendees in the registry
Help with the swag (t-shirts).
Help at lunch time
Give support to the speakers on the main room
Control room times, runners, AV, etc.
The organizers are in a race against time since the event will be in less than 2 months but until now it has been an incredible effort, I want to thanks to Elías Margolis (lead organizer), Matías Viera , Joaquín Arambarri , Alfonso Frachelle and Guillermo Figueroa for the hard work, they are generating meetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). September was not as we expected for WordPress Community Kota Kinabalu. Some people went for a vacation and some were overworked so we didn’t do as much as we planned. After three months organisers are aware of the work that needs to be done towards organising a meetupMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). That being said, we onboarded new organisers that will help with organising MeetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. and WordCamp KK.

Kota Kinabalu had their third meetup on Sep 29th, and the next one is planned for late October (21st or 28th).

In the meantime, it was decided to postpone WordCamp KK to 2019, to be organised no later than February (ideally) or March so we can have more time to set everything up (without people getting overstressed).

In October, we will work on preparing the budget for the WordCamp, and doing logistical stuff – from getting quotes to preparing the ORG team.
