WordCamp Netherlands …

Today the NL WordPress Community has announced that there will be no more WCNL and the Orga team will not be able to do anything else, which makes me very sad.

Unfortunately, I was not involved in the previous discussion here, but when I read the published mail traffic, the question arises whether one is not even talking in a Google Hangout to clear any misunderstandings and clarify how to meet the NL community.

Currently, there are a lot of angry voices in the community in and around NL which are directed towards WordCamp.org Deputy Team and the rules.

The NL are a small country, the land area is only a tenth of California and a third of the inhabitants. Within 2 hours you can reach almost any place in the country. Perhaps this makes it eventually clear why we should not set the same standards here as in the US or France.

I think it would be nice if we talk via Hangout with the WCNL organizers and look for a solution that would meet everyone and not just simply rigidly apply our guidelines as rules.

Update: I got some more insights now, and there have been one to one talks in the past, and discussions about renaming, but my intention is not to make a past performance but search for viable solutions. I could not change what has happend but work on the future.

I had the idea of, let them make WCNL and let it call for example “WordCamp Utrecht formerly known as WCNL” – maybe thats a compromise for everyone. The Organizers have all the communication channels of the past (twitter, website, eMail, etc.) to make it known accordingly and I do not think it is getting smaller by the renaming.

Whats your opinion @kcristiano @francina @andreamiddleton @chanthaboune @camikaos @mbootsman @remkus @lucp @tacoverdo @jennybeaumont ?
