We’ve made it through January, which means that it’s time for us to put out a call for new volunteer Deputies Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about program supporters in our Program Supporter Handbook.. For anyone who has wanted to know more about Deputies, below is a (very) brief idea of what our Deputies do.

Volunteer Deputies should already have some Meetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. and/or WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. organizing experience. It can be one or the other or both, just as long as you have it. 🙂
There are a number of things that volunteer deputies do, including:
- Answer emails in SupportPress (or get the right people notified)
- WordCamp application processing
- Meetup application processing
- WordCamp mentoring
- Sponsorship wrangling and advising
- Be completely awesome

How do I get involved as a Deputy?
If you’ve raised your hand in the past, but have not been through training, or if you’re newly determined to be a Deputy, please leave a comment with a brief summary of your involvement in the WordPress project/community program. We will reach out next week to set up training!
