Call for New Volunteer Deputies

A very happy Monday to you all! We’ve made it through January, which means that it’s time for us to put out a call for new volunteer Deputies. For anyone who has wanted to know more about Deputies, below is a (very) brief idea of what our Deputies do.

What does it take to be a Deputy?

Volunteer Deputies should already have some MeetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area. and/or WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. organizing experience. It can be one or the other or both, just as long as you have it. 🙂

There are a number of things that volunteer deputies do, including:

  • Answer emails in SupportPress (or get the right people notified)
  • WordCamp application processing
  • Meetup application processing
  • WordCamp mentoring
  • Sponsorship wrangling and advising
  • Be completely awesome

How do I get involved as a Deputy?

If you’ve raised your hand in the past, but have not been through training, or if you’re newly determined to be a Deputy, please leave a comment with a brief summary of your involvement in the WordPress project/community program. We will reach out next week to set up training!
