Here’s a short recap of what we discussed in our monthly team chat this week! Read the transcript here: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/outreach/p1441908103000345

We welcomed our new volunteers: @ajmorris @hlashbrooke @00sleepy @gugaalves @kdrewien @slash1andy @dimensionmedia @dustyf, and @judiknight

@dimensionmedia @dustyf, @judiknight are going to be mostly mentoring WordCamps for now but are welcome to take on administration work as well.

I set it up so the handbook would send change notifications to all deputiesProgram Supporter Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about program supporters in our Program Supporter Handbook., in case someone gets trained and then takes a while to be able to implement the training.

We asked new deputies to please go to the WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Status Doc and update the “DeputyProgram Supporter Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about program supporters in our Program Supporter Handbook. Training” sheet so we will know what they’re interested in getting trained to do.

@miss_jwo agreed to hold some SupportPress Triage training sessions next week. Andrea said she’d try to do a triaging screencast (she failed) before the week was out.

We assigned some training buddies to the new deputies. A training buddy is the “go-to” person for new people who have questions; you’re not necessarily the only person who trains them on everything, but you make sure they are on track with training and feeling like they have all the resources they need.

Kevin – Kathy
Jenny Wong – Hugh, Thomas
Josepha – AJ Morris
Brandon – Andrew (slash1andy)
Andrea – Judi, David Bisset, Dusty
Karen — Guga

@jleuze updated us on the new WordCamp theme — he expects the initial design from @robertnienhuis next week and then will start working it up. @ryelle volunteered to help too, and it was noted that discussion will be held in #meta-wordcamp.

We made another reminder that the Automattic team that works on community stuff (so that’s me, Josepha, Cami, Ian, Konstantin, and Jen) will all be doing our yearly, week-long Support Rotation next week and not be working on community team stuff.

Josepha updated us on the meetupMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. program:

Kevin, Jenny, Andy, and Brandon have been through the basics of Meetup group administration, and the merge of the WordCamp and Meetup status documents has begun.

@miss_jwo agreed to edit the big blue box to make it clearer how new people could get involved with our team. There was also some discussion of starting to “garden” the status document more often so it stays up to date.

Did I miss anything? Let us know in the comments!
