Following is an update.

So we had a Google Docs for WordCamp Status shared with all the DeputiesProgram Supporter Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about program supporters in our Program Supporter Handbook.. The issue was sharing it publicly as it had some private contact information in other sheets / tabs of the doc.

First test done was to see if one single sheet/tab of the spreadsheet doc could be made public and rest made private. It is done by hiding all the sheets except the one we want visible.

That seems to be a bad idea as the moment someone with edit rights – like a deputy opens the doc and clicks show tabs, all the tabs become visible even publicly.

The other option seems to be to have two spreadsheets – one with the public info and other with contact info on organisers and deputies safely private.

One issues with this approach was how to maintain two separate sheets and sync them with the same data.

Solution is to use =IMPORTRANGE(spreadsheet_key, range_string) function

Ref documentation: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3093340?hl=en – function.

I tested a public sheet and moved ownership to @andreamiddleton of the doc, so further changes or formatting can be done while I am not available.
