Since i’ve been sitting around in the community channels a bit more, I’ve noticed a fair few new local group organsiers wanting information thats tailored to them. I also wanted a place to jot down all the awesome different events that people are putting on so a new handbook has been penned: https://make.wordpress.org/community/handbook/local-event-planner/

It would be awesome if you could all comment to this post with topics and subjects you would like in this handbook.

I am also looking for people to write articles that they would find useful as an organiser. Subjects include the different events you all run and any other local event planning tips and tricks you would like to share. Hopefully this would become an useful resource to you all.

The first thing that pops into mind is the subject regarding Social Media. Best practices, etiquette, universal hashtags, etc. for Facebook, FB groups, Twitter, etc. For example, a local WP meetupMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. group uses a Facebook Group to communicate, yet, do they keep it an open or closed group? What information do they post on the Group description, what links can they make available for everyone, etc.? Part is to organize, the other part is to be educative. Can there be copy & paste information for the co-organizer and the group moderator?

I’d love to see:

• Popular topics — it’s sometimes difficult to find speakers, and the organisers might have to give some talks themselves, or help curate and motivate others to deliver talks

Questions that come up often in the Italian community :
- do we need to have the foundation vet our application or we can just start “hanging out”?
- use of Meetup.com – is it mandatory or people can start out on Facebook pages and groups and then move to meetup.com when the application is vetted?
