Making the WordCamp Status document more public

In an effort to make Community efforts even more transparent, I’ve created a page on the WordCamp Status document that Community deputies use to track WordCamps and published it to this page: https://make.wordpress.org/community/wordcamp-status-document/

From the original document, I made copy of the main status sheet, stripped out the “Date of Last Contact” as that didn’t seem useful (and are we really updating it reliably?), and also removed the “Notes” and “Latest SupportPress URLURL A specific web address of a website or web page on the Internet, such as a website’s URL www.wordpress.org” columns.

I did this because I didn’t want to delete columns without talking to deputiesProgram Supporter Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about program supporters in our Program Supporter Handbook. about it first, but I really wanted to make something public ASAP. 🙂 However, I’d rather just have one sheet that is free of contact info that has all the details that we and the whole community need to be able to check a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more.’s status at a glance. That way, it’ll always be up-to-date, and we won’t have to log activity in two places (because that’s just asking for trouble).

We could keep “Notes” and the “Latest SupportPress URL” in the public page, but to be honest I don’t trust the “Latest SupportPress URL” column and always search the queue before I reply to a thread anyway. Also, I think that the kind of info that would be useful in “Notes” should probably be in a SupportPress Staff Note on the original WordCamp application (or the relevant thread in SupportPress) instead of in this spreadsheet.

So deputies, can you please weigh in on whether you are OK with making the WordCamp Status Document “Status” sheet public while also removing the “Date of Last Contact,” “Latest SupportPress URL,” and “Notes” columns from the main spreadsheet page? If you think there’s a good reason to keep any/all of those columns, I’d like to know about it. 🙂
