I think the goal of a contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. isn’t really to get a bunch of patches or docs or whatever, but to get people over the initial obstacles (e.g., setting up a local dev environment, becoming familiar with the handbook style guides, etc), so that they’re in a position where they can continue contributing once they get home, and also welcoming them into the community so that they have some motivation to contribute.

Out of 20+ WordCamps I can only think of one that had a day 2 that I’d call a “Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. More often that “day” has been niche workshops or a developer day (unstructured day with people working together and helping each other out with things, but not focused on WP coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.).

Hence, I’m not sure if the goal here is just to focus on “Contributor” day 2’s, or if we should come up with something more generic that covers the full spectrum of what goes on on day 2’s?

The above from both @DrewAPicture and @iandunn are good. I’d add something along the lines of:
- Do you feel like you made a contribution?
- Would you attend a local meet-up that was focused on contributing?
- What resources would keep you contributing to WordPress?
- Did your group mentorEvent Supporter Event Supporter (formerly Mentor) is someone who has already organised a WordCamp and has time to meet with their assigned mentee every 2 weeks, they talk over where they should be in their timeline, help them to identify their issues, and also identify solutions for their issues. give you all of the help you needed?

Since the contrib day attendees is usually a small percentage of overall WC attendees, I might suggest going with a separate survey. Given the nature of contrib days, they could put the link on screen or the board and ask everyone to fill it out before they left that day for a higher response rate.

  Or even have it up on an laptop/ipad that a volunteer would carry around or sit by the door with to grab people.

    It would indeed be cool to get feedback from nearly all attendees for these smaller events.

The second will be – hopefully – in Sofia at the end of this month (hopefully because it seems like not everyone who would like to attend can be part of the day; http://2014.europe.wordcamp.org/tickets).

I will keep this idea/survey in mind and will come back by the beginning of October with my 2 cents.

PS: I am Co-Organizer of http://2015.cologne.wordcamp.org and am very much looking forward to “our” Contributor Day next summer. Can imagine to talk to every attendee and fill out a separate survey “together” before they leave. Great chance to talk one-on-one.
