Ah yes. They are not unheard of. Matt made a big request at WCSF (2011 I think it is) to have the community do what we can to eliminate it’s usage.

You still see it from time to time but much less than you used to. With regard to WordCamps, being a little more “in tune” with the community, it is even less common to see; most people know to avoid it in their WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. slides, thankfully. 😉
