It is a known fact that most of the videos we reject are on technical grounds (bad audio, poor exposure, bad camera placement, etc.) and not based on the quality of the content.
It’s also an understandable problem, as WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. organizers can’t be expected to become videographers overnight. As it is, they are stretched so thin, the last thing they have time for on the day of the event is configuring video and audio. As we all know, you only have one chance to get it right, and when you don’t, it’s heartbreaking.
However, these kinds of issues are also easily avoidable, and I think this is something that we, as moderators, can help to make better!
To that end @myroseapple and I are working on plans to update and expand the documentation that we send out with our Foundation Camera Kits, so that we can nip this problem in the bud! One way we can do that is by showing what we mean by “bad video” and how it can be avoided.
Tag Tag is one of the pre-defined taxonomies in WordPress. Users can add tags to their WordPress posts along with categories. However, while a category may cover a broad range of topics, tags are smaller in scope and focused to specific topics. Think of them as keywords used for topics discussed in a particular post. those suckers!
If you find a video that has any technical issues that you think would make a good candidate, can you apply the new modtag TECHFAIL and post about it here? Also, let’s save these special cases as Pending (to take it out of the Drafts queue) so that we can easily include them in our documentation?
