We also have regular Community Team meetings on the first and third Thursdays of every month at 12:00 UTC and 21:00 UTC in #community-team on Slack (same agenda).

Events WidgetWidget A WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user.

If you have questions about the Events and News dashboard widget that came out in WordPress 4.8, please read this FAQ!

      Custom Logos

Customizing a version of the WordPress logo for local communities and events is one of the fun parts of being a WordPress organizer. There are rules for using the logo, though, some well-documented and others not. I’ve asked Matt Thomas to write up the ones that aren’t currently documented, which he’ll be working on next week. I’d like to get a couple of volunteers to do a review of existing logos (meetups, WordCamps) once those are available, so we can identify and make a list of any that need to be fixed (fauxgos, using the circle-W as a letter in a word, putting P or C in a circle after the circle-W, etc). This won’t happen until the logo rules are updated, so at least a week from now, or probably two, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to line up a couple of people now.

Required Qualifications: Design eye for detail, ability to spot a WordPress fauxgo at fifty paces. 🙂

I wasn’t aware there were currently-documented logo rules. I cannot find anything on the Central planning site, but I might have missed a link (there are many now! 🙂 ).

It’d be interesting to have those rules, but one question I have: are they retroactive? Will logos from past WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. If anything, I’m available for reviewing both the rules and the logos.

        Current Status of Events

Meetups in most areas around the world will continue to remain online in 2021 due to the ongoing risks of the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision will be evaluated on a quarterly basis.

Meetup organizers in regions with lower COVID-19 spread (such as Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, etc) can organize in-person meetups, but they must mandatorily fill-up the in-person meetup decision checklist first. Organizers in these regions can hold their in-person event, only if they meet all the conditions in the checklist. Read the announcement.

All WordCamps and Flagship/regional events will be online-only until the end of 2021 with no new flagship/regional events being accepted for that period. Read the announcement.
