Big news! On Monday, we’ll be launching a new top-level menu item called Get Involved, which will include options to Submit a Video, Caption a Video, and Apply to be a WordPress.tv Moderator.

The Docs group will be heading up the captioning effort, as you see there, so this won’t add much to the current mod workload. If someone reports any issues with a caption, though – if it’s reported to be inaccurate, profane, spam, or problematic in any way – please unattach the caption file from the video, but don’t delete it. On Monday you’ll see a new meta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. field for captions in the Edit Post screen.
Caption files will be uploaded via a form similar to the video upload form, so there’s nothing you’ll have to do to connect them.
Submit a Video: On Monday, we’ll quietly take off the password protection and then announce it within the Events contributor group. I’ll be sure to set very low expectations for moderation time. 🙂

We’re obviously going to need to continue to grow, especially now that we’re going to be taking submissions from the general public, and I think this is a good way to start the vetting process for new mods.
