# Hello world!

New official WordPress contributor group! There are so many great WordPress evangelists
out there who have been organizing in-person events like meetupsMeetup Meetup groups
are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular
basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our [Meetup Organizer Handbook](https://make.wordpress.org/community/handbook/meetup-organizer/).,
WordCamps, classes, and socials, yet we haven’t had a way in the past to bring them
all together as one group. Now is the time!

Here’s what I envision for this group:

 * Blog to keep people posted about goings on, surveys to gather feedback, etc
 * Forums for ongoing discussions about common issues and areas of interest (how
to raise money, find venues, grow your local group, etc)
 * Mentorship! Right now, Andrea Middleton acts as a central point of contact and
guide for all WordCamps. In the ideal near future, she can still handle things
like bank accounts and such, but we can build a group of volunteers to help with
bringing new organizers up to speed and being an advisor/mentorEvent Supporter
Event Supporter (formerly Mentor) is someone who has already organised a WordCamp
and has time to meet with their assigned mentee every 2 weeks, they talk over
where they should be in their timeline, help them to identify their issues, and
also identify solutions for their issues./friend to them during their organizing
   process.
 * Follow-up: WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences
covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the
WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned
throughout the year and share the joy. [Learn more](https://central.wordcamp.org/about/).
videos that go to WordPress.tv need to be reviewed and published one at a time.
We could make this a shared responsibility.
 * Constant feedback loopLoop The Loop is PHP code used by WordPress to display
posts. Using The Loop, WordPress processes each post to be displayed on the current
page, and formats it according to how it matches specified criteria within The
Loop tags. Any HTML or PHP code in the Loop will be processed on each post. [https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop](https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop):
as an active contributor group, we’d be better able to review and adjust plans,
policies, and guidelines for official WordPress events on a regular basis to
keep up with the ever-shifting needs of the community.

Over the next couple of weeks, past and present organizers (that we know about)
will be contacted and added to this blog as authors if they would like to participate/
contribute. If you don’t want to wait and want to get on in here early and help
us get this site in shape, leave a comment on this post and we’ll loop you in.

Exciting!!!

P.S. Heck, even if we’re going to email you soon, why not leave a comment here anyway
if you are a past or present organizer? Introduce yourself, tell us about your events/
group, and pick the one thing you most hope this new contributor group can accomplish
by the end of this year. Thinking we will want to set up a regular IRC chat as well,
like other contributor groups, so these “one thing”s would be a great starting point.

          - Hey, Jane. I just wanted to follow up on this. I noticed on make/UIUI UI
is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts
with. Think ‘how are they doing that’ and less about what they are doing.
you mentioned on 7/19 that you are taking a LOA; not sure if that was from
the UI group or WP.org in general. I’d really like to jump in and help
            get the ball rolling.

       * I can attest to the value and practicality of using EE, its a quality product.
One thing that I don’t know (and this was a concern of mine earlier) was the
selling of schwag in addition to tickets – things like t-shirts, books, whatever–
had to be managed through a separate shopping cart – rough experience for
the sales side. The true benefit of EE is that for ticketing/event management–
right now there is only one other that I’d consider (BuddyVents)… for different
         reasons.

          - Jeff Jack 7:37 pm _on_ July 25, 2012
          - (clarify) EE is the best I’ve seen for event/ticketing. BuddyVents has
a community tie in and front end that (and this may have changed in recent
months) was not yet a feature of EE. BUT if events are you thing – tickets
only – EE is solidly “IT”.

      org Plugin Directory [https://wordpress.org/plugins/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/)
or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. plug but I thought it worth mentioning
that our All-in-One Event Calendar plugin/platform would be a super useful tool
for this group. It’s the most downloaded calendar plugin in the directory right
now and for good reason as it has the ability to create entire calendar networks.
i.e. pop your WC event or meet-up into your own calendar and it automatically
feeds out to every calendar subscribed to it. Therefore a WP global events calendar
could be created. We would love to create an event calendar network for this
community so if there are any event contributors interested in helping us set
this up please get in touch. And yes this is a free plugin, no strings attached
we just loving building networks : )

 449. I look forward to working actively with this community in coming weeks, months
and years. We’ve been organizing a $250 million effort for 14 years that is beginning
to unveil around you, and WordPress, Plesk and certain variants of CPanel have
been chosen as *fundamental* platform cornerstones. That’s as close to a permanent
      commitment as can be stated.

return via purely dividends that end, to private capital partners, but over $
25 million has been put behind the project just since 2004. And no part of this
Enterprise may ever be sold, or “go public” in the IPO sense. Been there, done
      that.

advise you to jump in to the Internet Central Park, and plant a LifeTimeTree
      acorn domain at LifeTimeTree.Net.

and the like). If you’re not involved in this area of contribution, this area
isn’t the place to post. Also, this sounds a lot like spam. We don’t like
spam around these parts, and posts are to remain on-topic here. There are
many more appropriate forums for inviting people to join your new venture.
