They are events where people get together to work on various areas of <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/<\/a> There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. <a href=\"https:\/\/2017.us.wordcamp.org\/contributor-day\/\">https:\/\/2017.us.wordcamp.org\/contributor-day\/<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/handbook\/getting-started\/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/handbook\/getting-started\/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Leadership Transition:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jason_the_adams\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jason_the_adams<\/a> has officially stepped into the role of Director of AI at Automattic. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/<\/a> or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Release:<\/strong> Version 0.7.0 of the AI plugin is scheduled for release tomorrow, featuring a modernized settings <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>UI<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>UI<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>UI is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts with. Think \u2018how are they doing that\u2019 and less about what they are doing.<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AI Handbook Push:<\/strong> There is a renewed focus on building out non-technical documentation to explain WordPress\u2019s AI philosophy and provide user-facing guides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contributor Day Coordination:<\/strong> Plans were finalized for both in-person and digital participation in upcoming contributor events, specifically targeting documentation and testing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organizational Update: Jason\u2019s Role &amp; Key Priorities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jason_the_adams\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jason_the_adams<\/a> shared that he has transitioned into the role of <strong>Director of AI at Automattic<\/strong> (with <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/isotropic\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>isotropic<\/a> also moving to Head of AI at Automattic). He noted that while the AI team is the primary consumer now, it is not strictly an \u201cAI feature\u201d and is part of a broader vision for WordPress. As a first step we should all feel comfortable drafting in a Google Doc and sharing in the channel \u2013 getting it published should be a low barrier to entry and we should adopt a YOLO method of, publishing first \u2013 assuming it was drafted and given <em>some level<\/em> of review, and feeling ok about iterating and polishing later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Model Context Protocol (MCP)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Updates on the <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>MCP adapter<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>MCP Adapter<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Translates WordPress abilities into Model Context Protocol format, allowing AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to discover and invoke WordPress capabilities as tools, resources, and prompts.<\/span><\/span><\/span> and its distribution:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Version 0.5.0:<\/strong> A release is expected this week once final testing is completed by <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/ovidiu-galatan\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>ovidiu-galatan<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Distribution Strategy:<\/strong> The team continues <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1VHHtIn_hFho9vzCQO2Nsa-0Zw87PWaKTItXfSTtnDx8\/edit?gid=0#gid=0\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1VHHtIn_hFho9vzCQO2Nsa-0Zw87PWaKTItXfSTtnDx8\/edit?gid=0#gid=0\">to debate the best way to package the MCP adapter<\/a> whether as a composer package, a standalone plugin, or a bundled zip to make it accessible for non-technical users. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/isotropic\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>isotropic<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/flixos90\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>flixos90<\/a> we likely will need <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>Team Rep<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Team Rep<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts.<\/span><\/span><\/span> discussion+decision on the approach here.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call for Design: AI Landing Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team discussed the need for a dedicated AI marketing page on <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>WordPress.org<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>WordPress.org<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users.
