They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they\u2019ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. <a href=\"https:\/\/central.wordcamp.org\/about\/\">Learn more<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> US contributor table and prompt bar planning, a proposed \u201ctrust ladder\u201d concept for <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>AI agent<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>AI Agent<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>An AI system that autonomously performs tasks and interacts with systems through available tools and resources.<\/span><\/span><\/span> permissions, and an open structured content and abilities proposal awaiting review.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WordCamp US: Contributor Table and Prompt Bar Planning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jason_the_adams\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jason_the_adams<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/nikskyverge\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>nikskyverge<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/justlevine\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>justlevine<\/a> have a separate call tomorrow to finalize the AI contributor table. <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/flixos90\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>flixos90<\/a> is expected to join partway through <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>Contributor Day<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Contributor Day<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/<\/a> There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/handbook\/getting-started\/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/handbook\/getting-started\/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the first year the team is running a \u201cprompt bar,\u201d and planning focused on how to make it useful for both attendees and the team:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Variety of tasks and formats<\/strong> \u2014 ensuring there\u2019s something for contributors without laptops (design\/writing tasks, not just code), following feedback from previous WordCamp Europe events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collecting community feedback<\/strong> \u2014 rather than one method, the team wants multiple ways for people to contribute: talking directly to volunteers, writing on post-its, filling out a Google form, or posting in the <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>Slack<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Slack<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform <a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/\">https:\/\/slack.com\/<\/a>. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> channel. A shared spreadsheet will let table volunteers log conversations and ideas in real time so nothing gets lost.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Per-topic QR codes<\/strong> \u2014 instead of a single QR code, the team leaned toward separate codes for abilities, the <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>API<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>API<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>An API or Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways.<\/span><\/span><\/span>, connectors, and the AI Client, each with a short description. This doubles as a lightweight way to see which topics attendees are most curious about.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reference materials<\/strong> \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/mikeyarce\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>mikeyarce<\/a> is putting together a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/scl\/fi\/ywd9wkor2pj4x6lyrrk8w\/Screenshot-2026-08-05-at-10.18.35-AM.png?rlkey=orwhxfbhy54qgdplrqafbdlem&amp;e=2&amp;dl=0\">two-sided info sheet<\/a> (what the team is working on, how to get involved, common questions, links) for volunteers and attendees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Broader ideas raised<\/strong> \u2014 advancing the AI contribution guidelines from V0 to a V1 that applies project-wide (not just within the AI Team), running a focused sprint on the skill-review backlog, and updating WP Bench to compare performance with and without skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">DECISION:<\/span><\/strong> Set up a shared spreadsheet for table volunteers to log community feedback and conversations during Contributor Day and at the Prompt Bar table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C08TJ8BPULS\/p1785950711056789\">thread will go into the Slack<\/a> to collect further ideas asynchronously before the team acts on planning next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI Trust Ladder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jason_the_adams\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jason_the_adams<\/a> opened a discussion on a \u201ctrust ladder\u201d concept currently being discussed internally at Automattic, and how it might apply to WordPress <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>Core<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Core<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea: define four levels of trust (plus a zero\/kill-switch level) that describe how much autonomy an AI agent has been given, similar in spirit to WordPress user roles (subscriber through administrator). Abilities could optionally declare the trust level they require, and a site owner could set their own trust threshold, which would determine which abilities are exposed to an agent at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key points from the discussion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/ovidiu-galatan\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>ovidiu-galatan<\/a> noted <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>WordPress.com<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>WordPress.com<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>An online implementation of WordPress code that lets you immediately access a new WordPress environment to publish your content.  WordPress.com is a private company owned by Automattic that hosts the largest multisite in the world. This is arguably the best place to start blogging if you have never touched WordPress before. <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.com\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.com\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> already implements something similar: users can enable or disable individual abilities, granular read\/write permissions exist for external agent access, and destructive actions always require explicit approval regardless of trust settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jorgefilipecosta\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jorgefilipecosta<\/a> raised the implementation question of how a trust level would map to what\u2019s registered with MCP; the working answer was that abilities above a site\u2019s trust threshold simply wouldn\u2019t be registered with the agent at all.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/nikskyverge\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>nikskyverge<\/a> distinguished between the trust level an <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>ability<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Ability<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A registered, self-documenting unit of WordPress functionality that can be discovered and invoked through multiple contexts (REST API, Command Palette, MCP). Includes authorization and input\/output specifications.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019s author declares it needs, and a separate, site-owner-controlled \u201cagentic trust level\u201d \u2014 the latter being the new, user-facing control this proposal introduces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/karmatosed\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>karmatosed<\/a> cautioned against presuming a user\u2019s level of trust in either direction, flagged emerging disclosure requirements for AI-generated content in some countries, and argued this should live in Core (kept simple) rather than <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>plugin<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Plugin<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/<\/a> or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.<\/span><\/span><\/span> territory, with an eye toward audit trails and transparency becoming expected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The group discussed whether an AI agent should be represented as a distinct entity or as a new type of user \u2014 leaning toward \u201ctype of user,\u201d partly because that\u2019s the direction regulation seems to be heading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/karmatosed\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>karmatosed<\/a> suggested shipping with predefined roles as a starting point, reusing WordPress\u2019s existing role language (contributor, editor, administrator) rather than inventing new terminology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an early-stage discussion rather than a proposal moving into implementation, and the team welcomes further thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Structured Content and Abilities Context Proposal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/jeffpaul\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>jeffpaul<\/a> flagged an existing proposal on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/WordPress\/ai\/discussions\/835\">structured content context abilities<\/a> that hasn\u2019t gotten much visibility yet. No discussion was needed beyond making sure the team has seen it and can <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>react<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>React<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>React is a JavaScript library that makes it easy to reason about, construct, and maintain stateless and stateful user interfaces.\r<a href=\"https:\/\/reactjs.org\/\">https:\/\/reactjs.org<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> if needed.
