The concept of accessible design ensures both \u201cdirect access\u201d (i.e. unassisted) and \u201cindirect access\u201d meaning compatibility with a person\u2019s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Accessibility)<\/span><\/span><\/span>-ready program,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a complete sitemap for users,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>our plans for September.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New and updated documentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standards and best practice section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New topic: <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/topics\/design\/avoid\/toasts\/\">Disappearing toast notifications<\/a> in Design patterns to avoid. Proud this post made the <a href=\"https:\/\/reading-lists.kc.vispero.com\/2026\/08\/24\/weekly-reading-list-august-24-2026\/\">Vispero Weekly Reading List<\/a> by Ricky Onsman.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update topic: <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/topics\/content\/readability\/\">Readability<\/a> in Content and images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update topic: <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/topics\/content\/docs\/\">Digital Documents<\/a> in Content and images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update topic: <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/topics\/content\/alt-text\/\">Alternative text for images in the content<\/a> in Content and images, added info about the toggle for decorative images in WP 7.1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the accessibility-ready program section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New page <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/accessibility-ready\/about-accessibility-ready\/\">What is the accessibility-ready program<\/a>, because there was some dicussion about its meaning and purpose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updated the language for <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/accessibility-ready\/theme-guidelines\/no-inaccessible-plugins\/\">plugin recommendations<\/a> for clarification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-linked all the resources with the accessibility-ready requirements, and we made the setup of the resources uniform. Now the testers can quickly find related documentation in the Knowledge Base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And we now have a <a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/sitemap\/\">Sitemap<\/a> for users, with links to all the documentation and topics in the WP Accessibility Knowledge Base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plans for September 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Move the Accessibility Team Handbook to a <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>GitHub<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>GitHub<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the \u2018pull request\u2019 where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/\">https:\/\/github.com\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> repository on the WordPress GitHub organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work on the remaining open issues in the tracking issue <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wpaccessibility\/wp-a11y-docs\/issues\/85\">Content pages: create or review or rewrite<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And we will add to the topic Infinite scroll, the ways to disable this in the Media Library grid view for WP 7.1. In short, there are 2 ways: <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your user profile (Users &gt; Profile &gt; Your name), check the option \u201cDisable infinite scrolling in the Media Library grid view\u201d. Then, a message \u201cLoad more\u201d appears in the Medial Library grid view to manually load more images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or view the images in \u201clist view\u201d instead of \u201cgrid view\u201d.
