The concept of accessible design ensures both \u201cdirect access\u201d (i.e. unassisted) and \u201cindirect access\u201d meaning compatibility with a person\u2019s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). The Core Development Team builds WordPress.<\/span><\/span><\/span> blocks<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This would highlight the\u00a0<strong>accessibility status of each <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>block<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Block<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, helping users understand current support and limitations both.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C02RP4X03\/p1774552324618489\">Generic Updates<\/a> was shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/joedolson\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>joedolson<\/a>. He is currently working on preparing the post about accessibility changes in WordPress 7.0 release and working on identifying tickets targeted for 7.1 release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He mentioned that most focus right now should be on testing 7.0, to ensure that any new issues or regressions are caught before the actual release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/joedolson\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>joedolson<\/a> also mentioned that the work on the theme accessibility-ready updates has been delayed due to the complexity of last-minute changes in WordPress 7.0 release. It is expected to resume post-release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice is-info-notice\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice__icon\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The upcoming bi-weekly meeting is\u00a0<strong>cancelled in favour of <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>WordCamp<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>WordCamp<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress.
