The concept of accessible design ensures both \u201cdirect access\u201d (i.e. unassisted) and \u201cindirect access\u201d meaning compatibility with a person\u2019s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it\u2019s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses \u2018blocks\u2019 to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc.\r<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/gutenberg\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/gutenberg\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> Phase 3\u2014lands in <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>Core<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Core<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.<\/span><\/span><\/span>. This is the first iteration, and there\u2019s much more to come. But you can test it now!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/2026\/03\/09\/call-for-feedback-increasing-value-of-release-party-testing-phase\/\">Call For Feedback<\/a>: Increasing Value of Release Party Testing Phase<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working Group Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C02RP4X03\/p1772119442584619\">Documentation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">added <em><a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/start\/quick-wins\/\">Quick Wins<\/a><\/em> and a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/wpaccessibility.org\/docs\/start\/guide\/\">Reading Guide<\/a><\/em> (content by role\/expertise), included a disclaimer that docs support the WordPress community but don\u2019t replace <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>WCAG<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>WCAG<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>WCAG is an acronym for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines are helping make sure the internet is accessible to all people no matter how they would need to access the internet (screen-reader, keyboard only, etc) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/WCAG21\/\">https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/WCAG21\/<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>.. Currently work is done on documentation on focus management, alt text, WCAG intro, business accessibility, and legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C02RP4X03\/p1772119762733509\">General Updates<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/joedolson\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>joedolson<\/a> shared many updates, with a few items still being worked on. <br>Only one accessibility ticket remains open for the WordPress 7.0 milestone (likely won\u2019t make it), 32 tickets were closed for 7.0, focus will shift to accessibility goals for 7.1 after RC1, and <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>RC<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Release Candidate<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A beta version of software with the potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge.<\/span><\/span><\/span> is the key time to review and fix accessibility issues in new features before final release.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C02RP4X03\/p1773328476329559\">Gutenberg<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Real-time collaboration needs accessibility testing (especially with screen readers); contributors should test RTC with multiple users editing simultaneously, coordinate testing with <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/joedolson\/\" class=\"mention\"><span class=\"mentions-prefix\">@<\/span>joedolson<\/a>, and also review visual <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>revisions<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Revisions<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next\/Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision.<\/span><\/span><\/span> though they are less urgent.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C02RP4X03\/p1772120775466029\">Themes<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far no updates here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice is-info-notice\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice__icon\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-wporg-notice__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following two meetings will be scheduled at\u00a0<strong>19:00 UTC<\/strong>\u00a0due to a timing conflict with the\u00a0<strong>WordPress 7.0 release<\/strong>.
