  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: version 3.9 is ready, will be announced this coming Thursday (Jan 30).
  • iOS: work on version 3.9.1 is beginning and will contain a lot of important fixes for the big point releaseMinor Release A set of releases or versions having the same minor version number may be collectively referred to as .x , for example version 5.2.x to refer to versions 5.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.3, and all other versions in the 5.2 (five dot two) branch of that software. Minor Releases often make improvements to existing features and functionality..
  • Android: go through second round of QA testing for 2.6 and release in time for Thursday this week.
  • Android: scope out the next major version of WordPress for Android, version 2.7.
  • Edit: we’re also ramping up elections for new Mobile Group Team Reps this coming week.

Mobile Group Update for Jan 13, 2014

  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: RCRelease Candidate A beta version of software with the potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge. testing of version 3.9 is in progress, planning on submitting on Jan 16 and releasing/announcing on Jan 23.
  • Android: finish RC testing next, then releasing when ready — may be around the same time as the iOS update.

Mobile Group Update for Jan 6, 2014

  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: version 3.9 has a few remaining bugs, but the RCRelease Candidate A beta version of software with the potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge. and code freeze is now scheduled for Wed Jan 8 which is the starting point for completing the QA checklist. This also means translations will need to be updated asap.
  • Android: version 2.6 is almost code complete and RC and QA testing is expected shortly. A push for translations will also be made.

General heads up: the Automattic mobile folks will have an internal team meetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area. Jan 12-19, which means our availability is going to take a hit. Mobile Group Update for Dec 23, 2013

Happy Holidays from the Mobile Group! This week most of us are taking some much needed time off, but in the off chance that we get abstinence problems, here are our priorities:

  • Android: finish 2.6 and get ready for submit
  • Both apps: test final releases thoroughly so we can submit early in 2014

Mobile Group Update for Dec 9, 2013

  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: 3.8.5 was in testing last week and is just now “In Review” with Apple, should be out soon.
  • iOS: 3.9 feature work is wrapping up this week with major changes to navigation coming.
  • iOS: issues have been organized better into releases 3.9.1, 4.0, and 4.0.1. We’ll make sure we can keep a tight release schedule with a new release roughly every 3 weeks.
  • Android: version 2.6 only has a few issues remaining and should hit BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. very soon, followed by QA later this week.
  • Forums migrationMigration Moving the code, database and media files for a website site from one server to another. Most typically done when changing hosting companies.: we’ve decided to start fresh and simply direct people to the new forums, manually carrying any important topics over. We’ll talk to MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group.   • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: bug fix update 3.8.4 finally passed QA testing and has been submitted.
  • iOS: work continues on bugs in 3.8.5
  • iOS: UXUX UX is an acronym for User Experience - the way the user uses the UI. Think ‘what they are doing’ and less about how they do it. clean up and more bugs/performance improvements coming in the 3.9 milestone.
  • Android: 2.5 was announced!

What’s New

  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: 3.8.4 QA testing underway.
  • Android: 2.5 round 3 of QA testing and code freeze was broken, QA 4 started late last week.

  • Android: some serious bugs came up in round 2 of QA testing 2.5, those were cleared and round 3 should resume shortly
