Docs Team Update May 3, 2013

This week

  • Open Help Conference: According to @siobhan, there are 7 confirmed WordPressers attending, with 4 additional maybes. WordPress is sponsoring the conference, which should allow free entry for any WordPress folks attending, so don’t buy your tickets just yet!
  • Links audit: We’ve started an audit to remove spammy links from the Codex. There have lately been several reports of old links wreaking havoc.
  • 3.6 Codex Sprint: By last count, we’re up to 70 new functions being introduced in 3.6. Beginning work has started on several Codex articles that need to be ready by the 3.6 release, namely RevisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next/Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision. Management, several Menus articles, Post Locking, and Post Formats. Seeking any and all interested volunteers.
  • Revisions help text: After a request from @ocean90, we’ve written a help tab for the Revisions screen. See #23899.
  • Other stuff: @siobhan has pulled a list of all top-level Codex pages and is working to better organize them. Also, @georgestephanis has been enlisted to work on a theme for the incoming code reference. More information on that soon.

Next week

  • 3.6 Codex Sprint: Work will continue compiling a master last of Codex changes coming in 3.6. We’ll also start on restructuring the aforementioned Codex articles.
  • Anyone interested in participating at the Open Help Conference in Cincinnati in June should read @siobhan‘s make/docs post about it.
