Support Update – March 26

Sorry about being late.

Twenty-one people have been removed from being admins or moderators from the forums, based purely on activity. Another dozen have dropped from being admins to mods. On the flip side, one mod was given admin access. If you feel your access should not have been removed, please let me know 🙂 I only did it to people with no posts in 11 months, so I doubt you’ll notice. Also if you think I SHOULD have removed your admin access, ditto.

Also there’s been a clean up run done in the Alpha/BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. forum. Posts that are about old versions are marked resolved even if the actual issue isn’t resolved. That way we know right away if a post is about 3.6-beta or not.

When the beta comes out, we’re going to be firm. If a post in that forum isn’t about the alpha/beta (like if it’s about the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party that updates you), out it goes. And if it’s a rant about how new features suck, it’s getting closed. We’re looking for people to be constructive there and report issues with the Beta and Alpha versions of WP. When you post about problems, remember to include PHPPHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. http://php.net/manual/en/intro-whatis.php. versions 🙂 It often matters.

Support Team Update for March 19

Highlights: We don’t know what timezone we’re in anymore! (It’s not just me this time, DST messes everyone up)

There’s been an uptick in more people helping out in more places lately (very noticeable in the MultisiteMultisite Multisite is a WordPress feature which allows users to create a network of sites on a single WordPress installation. Available since WordPress version 3.0, Multisite is a continuation of WPMU or WordPress Multiuser project. WordPress MultiUser project was discontinued and its features were included into WordPress core.https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network. section), so yay, always good to have more people. That’s good to have in place before the new version. More than likely, we’ll look at people with a lot of well written, helpful, posts post 3.6 and promote/demote moderators.

Oh yes, we’ll be going through everyone with mod access and probably removing folks who aren’t around anymore. This doesn’t mean you’re not a stellar volunteer, just that y’know. Life. At the same time, some people who work more behind the scenes (with spam etc) will likely remain since they’re still here, doing their thang.
