MP6 0.7

Hey gang. It’s still Friday in part of the world, which means the latest iteration of MP6 is now available. This week was mostly dedicated to refining what we’ve been working on so far, expanded testing and support for multi-site installations (particularly one really big multisiteMultisite Multisite is a WordPress feature which allows users to create a network of sites on a single WordPress installation. Available since WordPress version 3.0, Multisite is a continuation of WPMU or WordPress Multiuser project. WordPress MultiUser project was discontinued and its features were included into WordPress core.https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network. installation), and styling some of the new UIUI UI is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts with. Think ‘how are they doing that’ and less about what they are doing. that’s landed in WordPress 3.6.

Here’s what’s new in 0.7:

The Post RevisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next/Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision. page is now supported by MP6.
Updated styling for Menu Management and Widgets pages
Customized radio buttons that match MP6 checkboxes.
Default notifications now use green instead of red for their border color.
Adjustments to sticky menu positioning.
Prevent Jetpack retina styles from overriding MP6.
Enqueue Open Sans instead of loading via a CSSCSS CSS is an acronym for cascading style sheets. This is what controls the design or look and feel of a site. @import.
Include missing wpmini-blue images.
Reverted page tabs to look like tabs; we’ll explore more options here.
Visual bugfixes.
New version of Dashicons with additional glyphs.

In addition, Mel put together a simple example page for Dashicons that lists all available icons and the corresponding CSS/HTML/glyph for each. We’ll continue to update this page with more information on using Dashicons. http://melchoyce.github.io/dashicons/

Just installed the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. Looks great! But it has lots of RTL issues.

    It desperately needs help on WP7/IE9 mobile. Apparently it’s impossible to access the admin menu. And the Dashicons don’t work (possibly a cause of the menu issue), see also https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/23985

  Win8/IE 10 “Immersive” on the other hand, looks excellent. But there are a few issues with the way the browser chrome overlaps the page. For example, if you collapse the admin menu, the expand icon gets stuck behind the browser’s back button (depending on viewport size).

Looking great but checkboxes still not sized correctly under “Edit Gallery” screen. When checked they appear too wide (19px instead of 16px), when unchecked they appear 0px wide. It seems to be the original admin theme style “width: auto” which is breaking this.

  We’ve intentionally removed the border and border-radius from the submenu in MP6. Could you let us know what issue this is designed to fix?

When I go to Jetpack’s site stats dashboard page on my ipad, the WP menu is dropped down and won’t go away, limiting what I can see. I’m not sure how to describe it. It’s ONLY on that page, and only when I’m in single column (page) view.

  Yeah; I’m having this issue all over actually; when I load any page the WP menu is expanded until I move my cursor. So it makes sense that you’d be seeing that where you don’t have a mouse. Will have to get some developer help for this one.

  Removing these lines seem to fix the alignment issue. Haven’t tested to see what it breaks, if anything, though:

  Unfortunately there’s not much styling we can do to select elements like these. As Jose mentioned above the look of these dropdowns is entirely controlled by the browser. There are some solutions out there that use divs & lists in place of the select element for more freedom in how they’re styled, but that would require a markup change that would be coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress.   You can’t use MP6 on WP 3.5.1 – It’s for 3.6 only 🙂

  I was able to manually install it on a 3.5.1 site with no issues, but it’s not officially supported (which is why you can’t install it directly via Plugins > Add New on a 3.5.1 site). I’m afraid 3.5.1 support will be a DIY task as we’re primarily focused on 3.6 (and what comes after).

The dashicons look great. Many thanks to Mel Choyce for putting that Dashicons page together.

However, being curious, I have to ask why does the top alignment of the glyphs vary and also why are some sized differently for the same font-size?

  The icons should all be center-aligned, so we need as few per-icon adjustments as possible. A few of them still need a bit more adjusting; expect updates to the Dashicons font files as MP6 continues to progress.
