Next Wednesday, October 24th, there is a maintenance/migration which is going to necessitate that all of WordPress.org (including trac, SVN & API) as well as Ping-o-matic be offline for a couple of hours. We will hopefully be able to display an error page instead of just nothing – still working out the details. I don’t have the specific time yet, but once I do, I will post about it here.

Thank you for the heads up. This probably warrants a stub post on the main wordpress.org blog (not to mention make/core) once the window is set.
For future reference, if at all possible to accomodate in the future, Wednesdays are usually big days for core, with multiple meetings and deadlines being based around Wednesdays. Beta 4 is targeted for the 24th, which obviously we can shift. We’ll make it work.

I tried for a different day, but there are only resources in the data center to do this on Wednesdays. The time is flexible though. I will let you know once I have a time.

Cool. Earlier is probably better, as we’d aim to avoid releasing until after things are back up.

Quick update – we are going to start at 10AM Central tomorrow (1500 UTC). We redesigned the migration plan a bit so there shouldn’t be much downtime – maybe a few minutes here and there. I expect the entire migration to take about 2-3 hours to complete.
