If you do not have access to be an editor on these pages and would like it, please wave your hand in the comments.
Possibly we’ll get a form for this…
Criteria:
- Decent written English
- General good behavior
That’s really it. Editor access isn’t super dangerous if you think about it, and most of you folks we trust, so just ask and we’ll probably say yes.
Extra points for:
- Already being a Codex editor
- IRC/SE/Forum activity
- Professional WP personages
- Writing WP related books

Hi, I’ve been following along in this Make site, and also listening in in IRC, but I have not been making any noise so far, beyond a comment here and a comment there.
That’s not going to stop me from asking for access, however, as I really want to help!
A little about my reasons for this request, to prove I’m not a creep or weirdo:
So, what do you say?
-Jerry

Hi, I’d like to get involved in this, I’ve edited the codex once or twice, been active in the forum on on irc, let me know if I qualify. Thanks

Hi, I really want to help with this if I can. I’m in?
cafenoirdesign 6:36 pm on September 11, 2012 Permalink |
Me too please! I am a professional WordPress user and regularly train my clients to use WordPress. Part of that involves producing mini-manuals for them. I also have a journalism degree and have worked as a journalist/editor/copy editor. And if you need someone to vouch for my general good behaviour, just ask my mum!
palimadra 7:19 am on September 12, 2012 Permalink |
I would like to contribute to building the manual.
I’m a WordPress developer and usually with all my clients I do provide some documentation which they can refer back to. I usually integrate that into the back-end with a link from the Dashboard.
I have started helping the community by answering queries on WordPress support forums and I also have been a regular contributor to WP Questions.
Cannot wait to get started.

What’s your WP site? Your profile links to Tumblr (and yes, I did go and check everyone
)
Pali Madra 5:46 pm on September 12, 2012 Permalink |
By mistake I started a new top level thread while answering you.
Another issue I was facing was that I’m not receiving any email notifications for the comment updates even though I select both the options for notifying me. Can you please let me know what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks.

Sorry about that. I updated the link.
The WP site is http://agilewebsitedev.com. I started my own business after working in the industry (for others) for 14 years and I have been using WordPress for the last 5 years.
I’m right now in the process of updating my websites at http://agileseo.net and http://wpdevhub.com.
I have been contributing to wpunzipped.com as a WordPress developer and one of the post is at http://www.wpunzipped.com/embed-videos-and-images-in-wordpress-the-right-way/.

Is there a page/section in general you’d like to work on?
marfarma 7:00 pm on September 14, 2012 Permalink |
This one: http://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/stackexchange/ — I haven’t looked at the plan yet, to identify more — but I’m generally up for the more technical topics. I am aware that the audience isn’t technical. I’m pretty good at explaining technical things to a non-technical audience. It’s something I do regularly at my job when proposing ideas to business-side project owners.

I’d be interested in expanding this topic: http://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/02-setting-up-wordpress/finding-a-host/ to include a section or page with explanations definitions of the various types of hosting available: shared hosting, ‘managed wordpress hosting i.e. WP-Engine, ZippyKid, etc.’, vps hosting (managed and unmanaged), or dedicated server.
The vast majority of people will be fine running on shared hosting. But, when shopping for hosting, it’s easy to be confused by all the options – and some projects may be better served avoiding shared hosting altogether.

Hey all,
I’d love to help out with this effort. I’m a small-time core contributor, sometimes IRC technical assistant, WordCamp speaker, technical Codex editor when I have the time.
It looks like there isn’t an up-to-date list of who’s taken them up which handbook page. I’d be glad to tackle one that hasn’t been grabbed yet.

Requesting editor access as I would like to make a small addition to
http://make.wordpress.org/support/do-not-use-handbook/just-write/image-optimization/
which is posted in comments there
thanks
Ipstenu (Mika Epstein) 4:48 pm on October 5, 2012 Permalink |
That’s the do-not-use handbook. We’re not going to include that page at this time. Is there, perhaps, a page on our hitlist (see the front page) you’d like to work on?

Here is my waiving my hand. I have written two plugins. I have also written several articles on WordPress, and I am the go-to WordPress guy in my team.
My Plugins:
1. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jquery-image-carousel/
2. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-recommendations-for-wordpress/
My WordPress User Page:
http://profiles.wordpress.org/ankurt/
Me Helping People Out in Forums:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-more-fields-why-doesnt-this-plugin-have-documentation
My Tutorials:
http://oldmill1.github.com.
I would like to work on any sections that have poor documentarion. Specifically, I would like to work on attachment template documentation.
Thanks,
Ankur

We’re holding off on the media tabs, since with version 3.5 they’re going to be overhauled and we didn’t want to double the work. @jerrysarcastic is working on that. Jerry, wanna team up?
JerrySarcastic 9:48 pm on October 5, 2012 Permalink |
Sounds good to me; I’ve not touched attachment pages (focused on the uploader and image galleries) so any help is appreciated!
marc beneteau 5:34 pm on October 5, 2012 Permalink |
mm, perhaps, but how about a new page “Using the Visual Editor”?
If you make me editor I will do a first-pass through the content and fix any typos I find (although haven’t seen any yet) and then suggest further
thanks
marc beneteau 5:40 pm on October 5, 2012 Permalink |
mm never mind I see the page “Visual editor” but it needs a lot more instructions, let me work on that, if that’s ok
Ipstenu (Mika Epstein) 8:44 pm on October 5, 2012 Permalink |
This one needs more instructions? http://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/05-content/editors/visual-editor/

hi, i’d really like to contribute more substantially. i use wordpress a lot and spend quite a bit of time on the forums trying to help people and share what i know and i’ve noticed common themes keep cropping up. i’d really like to help with the user manual and to submit information that may be of use to noobs who are struggling with some of the basics like ftp and plugin compatibility issues, basic stuff really.
i hope you’ll consider me to become an editor with you guys, wp kicks a** and i love it so much i want to give back.
