  1. So, if I didn’t count wrong, it’s 12 girls out of 104 participants. Hmmm, interesting…

      11.5% is lower than I’d like, but it’s much higher than it would have been even a year or two ago in terms of how many of these people are contributors to the project or wp-based business owners. WordCamps typically have more women, but they tend to be more on the user end than the maker end. This should motivate us to do more outreach among women in the community to grow the number of women in the ranks of the influential.

          I actually have a few slides on something similar to discuss.
          % of women is definitely in there, right at the top actually, but so are a few others:
          % of non-white people
          % of non-north-americans
          % of non-north-americans or europeans
          % of non-native-english-speakers
          % of non-developers
          % of mac-users

          Some are obviously more trivial than others (e.g. mac users) but being able to segment the community (or our representation of it), will really drive some data to help us see some pain points in the community.
