Hi Polyglots!
The progress of the French translation of the WPiOS app is currently stuck at 64%. However there are a lot of strings awaiting approval, going back to August 2012.
Eric posted a message in February asking for help, however it seems there wasn’t any follow-up.
Would it please be possible to either have someone look at the waiting translations and validate them or if this is not possible give me the rights to do so?

One of our mobile contributors, pinged us that the WPiOS French translation has terms waiting approval. Could someone take a look?

Italian translation don ad updated.. as usual glotpress mark some untraslated strings but nothing show up wehn u check the italian translation

Italian translation done even if index page report that there are 5 untralsated strings left no untraslated strings show up accessing the admin… i suppose it’s one of the usual bugs of glotpress…

What’s the difference between Post to: and Posting to:. In what context are these two strings used in the app?
Same for Would Like Access to Address Book. With a better understanding it might be easier to find a good translation.
Is there any sense in completing the translation at this point. It seems the app has already been released.
It makes me sad to see time wasted on WPiOS translations that won’t see the light, since the list of languages supported on iOS is way smaller than those available on glotpress (e.g. Tamil, Bosnian, Irish, …).
What I’d do is take the following list, and make sure it matches http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/ios/dev. Then no new translation is added unless a future iOS update brings new languages.

While not directly related to what I was asking below (my inquiry was about certain languages of the WordPress blog software as such) I generally would find it a good idea to not let people contribute to work, that will never be released or used. It’s just a source of frustration and in the end a waste of the time of people kind enough to spend some time trying to contribute to the global community by translating software.
Same applies for WordPress translations that are seemingly without active validator and where it’s not obvious that there will be a release or when, as the ones I asked about below.
A year ago, I told you that you should make this list more prominent. You should also do same with other apps that can be translated: make a list which languages can be used with an app.
Hi everyone! We have finalized the strings for the upcoming release of WordPress for iOS. It would be very helpful to us if you guys could translate the new strings.
Note: There’s a few new strings that have some funny naming conventions and formatting. It’s important to leave the special placeholder characters when you translate.

…Also, do you know who (if anyone) is currently a moderator for Irish on WordPress.org? I’m a moderator for the WordPress.com one, but have no idea what the deal is with .org… My impression is that the .org translation is kind of far behind, if it’s even been touched in a while.
If you mean WordPress core, no active translation effort exists for Irish (no http://ga.wordpress.org, either). Would you be interested in gathering a team and tackling it?
Yeah I think I could do that (i.e., WordPress.org / core, Rosetta [that’d be for ga.wordpress.org, right?], and even Android and BlackBerry).
Great. And yes, rosetta is for ga.wordpress.org. It’s also not a bad idea to recruit help, there are lots of strings. Hold tight while I set you up.

Sorry for the delay, I wasn’t paying attention to the iOS translation these days…
It’s done: all strings have been validated/corrected, and the untranslated ones have been translated.
