GlotPress Trac Core i18n Tickets
Hey everyone, we made a few tweaks to the upcoming WordPress for iOS that Isaac wrote about here. We decided to add several detailed error messages to our new create account flow(about 25 of them) to better help users as they encounter different errors. Would you mind jumping in and helping translate at http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/ios/dev when you can? I know some of you have already jumped in and helped with this release and your help is much appreciated!

This update adds a much improved welcome guide and login/sign up that should be much more pleasant for new as well as returning users.
Can you add the catalan language?

Hungarian became 100%
Swedish is 100%
There is no Greek language.
Not sure which one you meant, created both Greek and Greek (Polytonic).
May I be validator or is someone else? Also in Greek for WordPress and buddypress

I’ve translated the danish strings, but lack the authorisation to approve them. Could someone approve them for me (or promote me?)
German was at 100%. Now 5 Pages untranslated!? What happened?
Sorry about that, there was a mess-up with the original english strings and their fall backs. We’ve had to re-add all those strings. The translations are still there though, so the plan is to have a script run through and add the translated strings back in for all of these so you don’t have to redo it, worst case scenario we’ll do it manually.
There has also been some additions and typos fixed in the english strings (gah!) so those we’ll ask you to take a look at again. So sorry about this, hopefully we’ll get it back to close to completion very soon.

Hey everyone, sorry about the confusion with the strings. Isaac mentioned briefly what happened, but I’ll go into more detail.
What happened was that I was encoding a couple of the New User Experience related strings with more developer sounding keys rather than the full english translation and we realized a few days ago that on incomplete translations rather than falling back to the English, the key would be used. I.e., on our New User Experience instead of seeing “Welcome to WordPress” you’d see “NUX_First_Walkthrough_Page1_Title”. Here’s an example:

As this was highly undesirable, I went in and updated the string keys to match their english translation. The problem was that if I uploaded this new strings file, all the hard work you and everyone else did would be lost and I didn’t want you all to waste your time because of my mistake. So what I did was before the new strings file was uploaded I downloaded all of the strings files where you had made translations to the strings that were about to be lost. I then uploaded the new file and by hand went in and copied and pasted in your old strings. So almost all of your old work should be retained.
That being said, during that process we also realized that when a user created an account through the new user experience, we weren’t giving the most descriptive of error messages. To fix this, we decided to add in about 25 new error messages so that way if a user encounters an error during the new user creation flow they’ll be able to better understand what exactly went wrong. This is why there are about 2 pages of untranslated strings left on each of the translations you all did, none of those strings existed on GlotPress a few days ago.
Again, I’m sincerely sorry about any confusion I might have caused.

You, just like everyone else, have access to the languages. If you’re referring to validator rights.. we only give those out to members of the translation team for consistency.
Yes I mean validator rights. But when a project isn’t looked at like in this case the Windows app. Then always put a post here?
Also curious what happend today. at 2am I was invited as a validator. at 9am I joined and at 10am my access was removed. I’m curious who invited and revoked me. Also it seems weird that someone revoke my access without letting me now. I read your message later when I was surprised what happened.
Yes, please post here if there is substantial work done on a particular project. The members of the translations team – me being one – will frequently check for unapproved translations and moderate and approve them.

Version 3.2 of WordPress for iOS is just around the corner and there are new/updated strings. We’re hoping to push your translations out as soon as you have them, but at latest in version 3.3 (a month or so out).
This is a good time to contribute to Mobile WordPress.
I would love to fniish it but.. on language list it show there is just 5 untraslated strings… opening the translations show up more than 23 pages on untranslated strings… i suppose something wrong… please resync it and i will translate the missed string immmediatly
You can just go ahead and translate those strings regardless, but you’re right it looks like some strings are indeed not synced (I think the counter is off because it measures from the last number of total strings and there have been quite a few added since).
Translating at least one string will reset the counters to the proper values. It’s a bug, sorry for the inconvenience.
just finish for Thai language, please include it in next version if you can.
As long as iOS itself allows that language we’ll make sure we do!

The app description is not in the GlotPress though – are you planning to translate the store descriptions, too?
We’d very much like to translate the app store descriptions as well, but we’d most likely copy/paste any translations in to keep it simple – it doesn’t change that often anyway. I guess we’ve been holding off on this until we have updated the english description.

Hello Polyglots! There’s a few strings that we’ve added to the Windows Phone app, mainly ‘pin’ and ‘unpin’ which means to add your blog’s icon to the home screen of your Windows Phone device.

WordPress for iOS needs your help! There are a few missing strings for the upcoming 2.9 release of the app. Norwegian, Turkish, Indonesian, Finnish, and Russian are some languages that have empty strings.

I think it’s the infinitive (not sure), i.e. “Lire”
Yup, did it that way.
Another one (apparently I missed 3): “del”, which I take is shorthand for “delete”. Translated to “eff”, weird shorthand for “effacer”…
Those are basically placeholder info for html tags – they won’t be visible to the public. They’re in there for completeness.
