@Zé – I;ve translated the new strings for my locale but I’m not sure about how to create the build for it – been too long ago since we did 3.3 Any chance of catching you on Skype or IRC?

    Haidh a chàirdean,

Does anybody know if there are any attempts underway to translate WordPress into Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic). If there aren’t, I’d be interested in having a go.

I’ve added support for Gàidhlig in GlotPress, but I’ll need your .org username for the rest (similar to fa_AF).

Zé a charaid, thanks very much! I’m quite new to WordPress so I’m not sure what you mean by my .org username. Thanks, Alasdair

Sorry. I meant your username on the http://wordpress.org/support/ forums. If you don’t have one, go to http://wordpress.org/support/register.php

Cool. You can now validate Gàidhlig. Make sure to read the Getting Started page.

Thanks very much. Two more quick questions – firstly, should I translate 3.1 or 3.2? Secondly, I had a quick look for the Irish Gaelic version for some inspiration for the Scottish Gaelic version but I couldn’t find it (even though there is an Irish version). Where can I find it?

            • 3:41 pm on April 1, 2011 Permalink

I’d start with 3.1.x as there will probably be at least a 3.1.1 before 3.2. As for Irish, it does indeed look like there’s no .org translation, but you can always look for inspiration over on .com.

Can you add me as well? I’m locale leader for Gaelic on Mozilla/Opera/OpenOffice and various other projects.

Ok, we’re back – been silent but not lazy, we were just using Pootle (http://pootle.locamotion.org/gd/) to complete the translation of WordPress. Few questions though at this stage – I’ve been hunting round the website for the past half hour but I cannot find where I can upload the .po files (and also where I can get the latest .pot file cause I suspect there may be some new strings).
gd also doesn’t appear to be on http://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom or is that because we don’t have a release yet?
