I’ve just deployed a 100% complete translation of 3.1 for the first time, yet I’m still seeing a few English strings in the new Admin Bar. The offending strings are ‘Add New’ and ‘Edit My Profile’ (under the logged in user’s name) and unfortunately they’re in a highly visible location.

I’ve checked that both these strings have been translated in GlotPress and they seem to be present and correct. Here’s the string for Add New, for example. It’s located in wp-includes/admin-bar.php:198.

The translated strings also seem to be present and correct in the .po file that was generated at the same time as the live .mo file. It seems they’re just not being picked up by WordPress.

Any ideas? Have any other languages successfully translated ‘Add New’ and ‘Edit My Profile’ in the new Admin Bar?

I know that there are issues with the admin bar in the .COM translation (see here, but I can’t see how a homepage syncing issue would apply to .ORG too…

I’m using the WPML plugin for this purpose. The files cy.mo and cy.po do exist (http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-i18n/cy/trunk/messages/cy.po and http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-i18n/cy/trunk/messages/cy.mo), but I’ve noticed a couple of mistakes (typos). This being the case, our translator will have to go through the file and I’d like to contribute the corrected file back, but I can’t find anyone actively working on the Welsh translations.

Being completely new to all this could someone advise as to the proper steps I should take. Thanks.

When I try and commit a folder named rosetta (containing the .po, .mo and .pot files) to the above location I get the message “Error: CHECKOUT of ‘/wordpress-i18n/!svn/ver/14352/cy’: 403 Forbidden (http://svn.automattic.com)”

Am I doing something wrong? I’ve used SVN in the past but I’m not overly familiar with it.

I see from other messages that we’re meant to request deployment through the locale site’s Tools > Deploy Request menu, but I’m unsure how I should be transferring the file to you for deployment.

Another quick question: is there a glossary of the English terms used in WordPress out there somewhere? I’ve started my own using the Codex’s Glossary (which doesn’t seem to have been designed to help with localization) as a starting point, but it would be great resource for localizers tranaslating into English if there was a more complete list available of the most visible/frequently used terms found in the software.
