Hi Ze,
I have not received your reply for my previous posts, I am posting it here with the tag “request”.
1- AZ page is letting me log in, but “You are not allowed to edit this item.” is showing when I want to edit a page, post etc.
2- How to add the right flag (Country/National) for each translation?
3- Is there any threshold for a language to be released (what stage or percentage is needed?
4- Translation for HAZ is ready to be released (%100 done), how to do it?
Regards

Hi Ze,
Just to remind you:
1- AZ page does not let me do the editing, it keeps redirects to Global!
2- AZB page has to be named as “آذری” because گؤنئی آذربایجان is the geographical name for South Azerbaijan. Name of the language is “آذری” which is the short version for “آذربایجان تورکجه سی”.
3- I do not know where to upload the translated files? Any help please?
Regards-
Ze Fontainhas
1 – There has to be some cookie/cache issue. Could you clear those on your browser or possibly try another browser?
2 – Fixed
3 – See http://translate.wordpress.org/getting-started. The import link is only visible to editors (i.e., you) and is at the bottom of every translation page. -

FOA dear Ze,
Congrats for the new release.
I just wanted to remind you of the latest situation we had talk about:I am now able to go to dashboard on all 3 pages, and am able to edit pages in HAZ page and AZ_TR but not in AZ ! Strange. Hovering on the edit button shows the target as Global!
And, how to activate the RTL function in HAZ page?
And, I will not continue with AZ_TR, but will wait for AZB page to be set up.
Regards
-
Ze Fontainhas
You have the same profile on all 3 sites, could you try to clear cache & cookies, logout and try again? Also, HAZ is already RTL’ed (content in english obviously shows up LTR).
Now to AZB. Ethnologue lists no less than 3 scripting systems (!): arabic, cyrillic and latin. We can only use one. (or else we’ll need 3 separate language codes, which is not good)
-
Ze Fontainhas
I’ll take that RTL’ed HAZ back, something fishy is going on. Hold tight.

Hi Ze,
Thanks.
AZB will go with Arabic scripts as it is the official script used by South Azerbaijanis inside Iran. Latin is official for Republic of Azerbaijan (North Azerbaijan) and Cyrillic was only been used in N-Azerbaijan for short period and it is in no use now.
AZB is already been translated partially and is in use by some websites using the same script (Arabic style)
About RTL, will wait for your comment.

AZB should be all set, can you check?

ایه لیک To Have داشتن
Hi Ze,
Thank you very much, I appreciate your effort.
AZB page has been activated, few pages been edited and the first package will be ready soon, although it is not the complete translation of wordpress, but it has all the parts for up to editor level. Installation, help files etc will be translated and added in time.
Now, I have wordpress-3.6-alpha-23223-azb folder downloaded, what should I do after placing the translated files inside the folder?
What is the easy way to access the files from admin dashboard? I mean how is possible to add or delete files without need to download the whole core files?
Regards

Hi Ze,
I am glad that you set up two pages for North Azerbaijani Turkish and Hazaragi. But the page for South Azerbaijani Turkish is not activated yet, dashboard is not accessible for other pages and LTR function is needed for Hazaragi and South Azerbaijani Turkish if activated.
pages should be:
azb.wordpress.org
haz.wordpress.org
az.wordpress.org
Thanks again-
Ze Fontainhas
Could you tell me which username you are using?
Also RTL has been enabled for haz and az_tr (note that this code existed before, and so as not to break existing installations, I’ve kept it, instead of azb).
http://az.wordpress.org/, http://haz.wordpress.org/ and http://az-tr.wordpress.org/ are all up.

Ze Fontainhas
Come to think of it, is az-tr actually written RTL? Ethnologue seems to say otherwise: http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=azb

Hi Ze,
Thanks again for this reply here and sorry that I had to use the other thread.
1- I use my login details that I use to enter the wordpress.org, forums etc.
2- I can not reset password,
3- When I enter using above mentioned details, am not able to edit the pages.
4- Most importantly, page for South Azerbaijani Turkish has to be named as AZB and set as RTL as it is written using Arabic scripts. az_tr is another reference to Great Azerbaijani language which is not confirmed yet, some Northern Azerbaijani sources want to use it to show the relationship with Turkic family. So please set the page as
http://azb.wordpress.org
5- Is there other login details that I am missing here? How to get them?
If I am able to edit the pages, the work will start right away.Just for information sake, Ethnologue is being controlled without any reasonable facts in their hands, specially when it comes to South Azerbaijan. Their only reference is Operation World which its information is being gathered using inadequate research and study. They base their claim on Christian records, which makes it impossible for them to be present in the country or have access to official documents. Ethnologue had reduced the population of South Azerbaijanis by more than twice as what was in their own site years ago using the same reference! Reason? Politics, of course. Please have a look at the archived page: http://web.archive.org/web/20061119073349/http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=azb
Best regards-
Ze Fontainhas
2- I can not reset password,
Well, no, not from the rosetta site, it’s your WordPress.org username. If you want to change your password, you need to change it there.
You should be able to edit anything in rosetta, see:

-
Ze Fontainhas
I’ll get working on azb after 3.5

I did post the request first, but I am familiar with Hazaragi language. Hazara people live mostly in Afghanistan but their language is different from other Farsi speakers like in Iran or Tajikistan. I do have friends who are themselves Hazara and will help me.

Look, I’m all for having *all the languages* supported, but being a translator myself, I’m a little worried to see you take on 3 projects, no less. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just want to make sure that you’re aware of the effort. Are you recruiting people to help?
(I’ll add support for the languages in the meantime)

Hi Ze, I understand your worry, but I have already done parts and bits, and actually will have people helping me with third request. For the binging, I am up and ready for the job. Regards

ایه لیک To Have داشتن
Hi there. I am working on 2 different set of translation for Azerbaijani Turkish. The language is known as “Azerbaijani” and it is the official language of Republic of Azerbaijan. It is being written using modified Latin script. However, there are many more people are sharing the same language, but theirs is not recognized yet. Azerbaijanis (South) living in Islamic Republic of Iran are more than 35,000,000 compare to 9,000,000 in Republic of Azerbaijan (North). They use script derived from Arabic. Now, I am working on translation for both scripts. Already has created basic files, with main words used in back-end and front-end but, there is a long way to go.
I need assistance for how to:- Create/Join the translation team for both languages
- Upload and maintain the language files
- Update and announce modifications
Also, the code for North Azerbaijani language is az_AZ but there is no official code for South Azerbaijani. I will set it as ak_AK. I have checked with the language code directory and it is not taken.
Regards-
Ze Fontainhas
Just a correction: there is indeed no ISO 639-1 code for South Azerbaijani, but there is the ISO 639-3 “azb” that we can use.
You cannot use ak, as that code is reserved for Akan (Ghana).
-
Ze Fontainhas
We could alternatively use az_IR (indicates “Azerbaijani, as spoken in Iran”)
-
-
Ze Fontainhas
As to somehow grouping languages: we do not have the concept of “language groups” in Rosetta (yet?), but I’m all for discussing it. Yours is one use-case (same-ish language in different countries), as are Canada or Switzerland (same country, different languages)

Hi Ze,
Thanks for the reply.
For azb_AZB which was suggested in wiki years ago, I am not sure if wordpress will recognize the 3 letter language file name. Usually it uses 2 letters style.
For the az_IR still there is doubt that how it will be implemented.
2 letters stile would be the best, but I do not know how to check if there is unassigned codes left starting with ALanguage is nearly the same, with some differences due influences of occupier regimes language implementation and different curriculum in place. But they use completely different scripts. az_AZ is LTR and Latin based, Southern will be chosen in future, it is RTL and Arabic based script.
There are few people had worked on North Azerbaijani language for wordpress, but they are not available now! Southern language file was first started by myself years ago and because the demand for using wordpress in South Azerbaijan increases, I am sure it would help them and the wordpress in return.
So, if youn or any one can help me to list the basics of making a language pack (files, extentions, folders, images etc) and how to make the available to public or be downloadable through the wordpress itself, I would be grateful.
-
Ze Fontainhas
That’s ok, ISO 639-1 is normally used for language subdomains, but ISO 369-2 and -3 can sometimes be used for disambiguation. WordPress handles those just fine. To get started please read all of http://wprealm.com/blog/translate-wordpress-part-i-getting-started-and-adding-support-for-a-language/ and post your request in a new thread. Thanks.
