You shouldn’t need access to svn, could you tell me what you are trying to do? Thanks.

Choose the project and language you need and click the export link in the footer:

Remember that you’ll need *both* the .po and the .mo files

Hello everyone. I have been using word press for 1 year now. I’m impressed by its effectiveness in internet blogging. I would like to translate it to Swahili language. However i don’t know how to start. Can anyone support me on this?
-
Zé
It looks like Swahili is already underway, albeit at 3.0.4. Have you tried getting in touch with the translators?

I’m lost. I have a WordPress site in English. I have a good Italian translation of the home page. I want the site to be bilingual with Italian at the primary language and English second. WordPress seemed to being saying I must go to Glotpress for some kind of approval of the translation I have available. But how does it happen?
-
Zé
If you already have a working translation to Italian, you are free to use that, no approval is required. There is a sanctioned translation to Italian, but you are under no obligation to use it. GlotPress is simply a platform for translators to collaborate.

Edward 'Ned' Mueller
Thank you Ze. I do have the translation I need for the home page, but I not understand how to make all the pages on my web site obviously bilingual, maybe with the help of glotpress or polyglot eventually, so the user can choose between Italian and English right from the start?
-
-
Gabriel Reguly
Hi Edward,
Sorry to say, but looks you are really lost
This site is for people who is doing the translations and you simply want to use the translations.
There are some plugins who can help you to have a bilingual site, I personally use qTranslate. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/
The correct place to ask questions like this would be the WordPress forums, https://wordpress.org/support/
Good luck,
Gabriel-
Edward 'Ned' Mueller
Thank you for replying Gabriel. I do not know how to set up the web site to be bilingual. By that I mean that when someone enters the home page they see a choice of languages: Italian, English. Then by choosing a language everything comes up in the preferred language.

Gabriel Reguly
As I said earlier, you will need a plugin.
qTranslate is my personal choice. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/
I assume you have a self-hosted WordPress site, correct? Then just install the plugin, activate it and follow the instructions to start creating bilingual content.

Hello people, I would like to help translating articles from english to spanish, I’m a native spanish speaker with advanced english and I’ve found several untranslated articles, my concern is that most of them were the documentation ones, wich I think are very important ones to be avaliable in several languages since they are the way WordPress can actually be useful for spanish only speakers.

Hi, I would like to help translating to the Romanian language which, for the most part, is translated word by word, without context and without proper meaning. Can you make me a translations “validator”? I speak fluent Romanian and English. I’m at stefangabos.ro. Thanks!
-
Zé
Coud you contact the Romanian team with your request first? Thanks.
-
Stas Sușcov
@vanillalounge could you add @stefangabos as a validator for wp.com?
He is interested in correcting out contributions from wp.com users. He didn’t explain that in the initial post, so I was confused. Thanks in advance!

Zé
.org user name?
-
CofeeMan
Hi Stas, I would like to contribute to your work, translating in Romanian. I already translate some interfaces for themes for personal use. (scoala193.org, pieseautosh.net)
Thank you-
Stas Sușcov
Hey @CofeeMan,
could you please start by looking here:
http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/3.3.x/ro/default?filtersstatus=untranslatedI will check your work from time to time and if that’s ok I will promote you as validator.
Thanks.
N.B.: For the record, it’s not just my work, a bunch of guys contributed so far
-
CofeeMan
I know Stas, I am proud because people like you and the other guys are doing this great work for free software.

Thanks @vanillalounge
@stefangabos I will email you asap. Please, in future don’t be so rude when speaking about volunteers work, it makes ugly the whole concept of community people are trying to build here.

Hi, anybody working on Assames (as_IN) translation of WordPress? I would like to contribute. If no, I will be happy to start the translation. Can it be added?
-
Zé
Assamese is not currently being maintained. If you’re up for it, please take a look at the draft handbook to get started.

Hi, my name is Felipe Gútiez Velasco. I come from Spain and live in Germany. I was contacted by Tom Willmot in relation to a pro bono translation of a plugin. I would be delighted to be able to contribute to the translation of this plugin. I was sent a .pot file and I was given some indications about a page where I can get info and colleagues. So and here I am. I would be happy to meet other Spanish translators here. I have several websites and I am engaged in epilepsy and electric cars (for the moment). In the near future I will publish a tutorial about Trados 2011 for translators and other professionals.

There is always a first step, so for my first participation to the GlotPress project, is it possible to become the validator for the french version of the “WordPress Importer”, thanks
-
xavier
Hey littlebouddha,
There is no such thing as a sub-project for the WordPress project. The whole WordPress translation is taken care of by the WordPress-Francophone translators from A to Z, and we currently do not need external help (mostly for consistency issues).
There are many other projects where you can lend a helping hand, tho. Take a look here: http://translate.wordpress.org/projects

littlebouddha
Ok pas de soucis Xavier, ne voyant pas mes suggestions validées (https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/wordpress-importer/dev/fr/default) depuis un petit moment je me disais que personne ne suivait les extensions de wordpress sur GlotPress mais ce n’est donc pas le cas, je garde donc mes traductions pour mon usage perso… a plus et keep on the good work

The link “Translation from Google” in glotpress gives the following error since a couple of days
Error in translating via Google Translate: undefined!

Google Translate API v1 was officially deprecated on May 26, 2011; it was shut off completely on December 1, 2011. http://code.google.com/apis/language/translate/overview.html

Mattias Tengblad
Ah thats right. Too bad, will considerably slow down the work flow in GlotPress
Especially since gp doesn’t handle updated strings as efficient as poEdit. -
Mark Thomas Gazel
That’s too bad. Can’t something be done? The paid version perhaps?
-
-
Rafael Poveda - RaveN
Losing the automatic google translation is not that bad IMO. A bit more work, a lot more quality in this work.

Did you take a look at http://codex.wordpress.org/Multilingual_Codex ? It’s probably also a good idea to talk to the Spanish team, you may want to join efforts.
