Hi Zé,
Would it be possible to give the user ‘Gwgan’ the admin rights to produce a localized WP install package on cy.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/? Thanks 🙂

Hi all,
I’ve just deployedDeploy Launching code from a local development environment to the production web server, so that it's available to visitors. a 100% complete translation of 3.1 for the first time, yet I’m still seeing a few English stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in the new Admin Bar. The offending strings are ‘Add New’ and ‘Edit My Profile’ (under the logged in user’s name) and unfortunately they’re in a highly visible location.

I’ve checked that both these strings have been translated in GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org. and they seem to be present and correct. Here’s the stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for Add New, for example. It’s located in wp-includes/admin-bar.php:198.

The translated strings also seem to be present and correct in the .po file that was generated at the same time as the live .moMO files MO, or Machine Object is a binary data file that contains object data referenced by a program. It is typically used to translate program code, and may be loaded or imported into the GNU gettext program. This is the format used in a WordPress install. These files are normally located inside .../wp-content/languages/ file. It seems they’re just not being picked up by WordPress.

Any ideas? Have any other languages successfully translated ‘Add New’ and ‘Edit My Profile’ in the new Admin Bar?

I know that there are issues with the admin bar in the .COM translation (see here, but I can’t see how a homepage syncing issue would apply to .ORG too…

Hi Zé,

Can you double-check that I have commit perms on http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-i18n/cy/ ?

My username is: gruffprys

When I try and commit a folder named rosetta (containing the .po, .mo and .pot files) to the above location I get the message “Error: CHECKOUT of ‘/wordpress-i18n/!svn/ver/14352/cy’: 403 Forbidden (http://svn.automattic.com)”

Am I doing something wrong? I’ve used SVNSVN Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after its command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system. Software developers use Subversion to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS). WordPress core and the wordpress.org released code are all centrally managed through SVN. https://subversion.apache.org/. in the past but I’m not overly familiar with it.

What’s the current rosettaRosetta The code name of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired from the ancient Rosetta Stone, which contained more or less the same text in three different languages. deployment policy? I translated the file last night, but do I need SVNSVN Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after its command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system. I see from other messages that we’re meant to request deployment through the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. The translated file can be found here.

According to this earlier thread: http://wppolyglots.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/my-burning-questions-about-glotpress-set , strings translated at translate.wordpress.com get passed to wordpress.com when about 200 new strings have been translated.

I’m pretty sure I’ve translated more than this recently, without any changes to wordpress.comWordPress.com An online implementation of WordPress code that lets you immediately access a new WordPress environment to publish your content. WordPress.com is a private company owned by Automattic that hosts the largest multisite in the world. This is arguably the best place to start blogging if you have never touched WordPress before. https://wordpress.com/. Are there any other issues (such as no updates on weekends) I should be aware of? Is there any way to ‘force’ an update? (I’m trying to ensure that the obvious interface elements on wordpress.com are translated as quickly as possible).

Another quick question: is there a glossary of the English terms used in WordPress out there somewhere? I’ve started my own using the Codex’s Glossary (which doesn’t seem to have been designed to help with localizationLocalization Localization (sometimes shortened to "l10n") is the process of adapting a product or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local "look-and-feel.") as a starting point, but it would be great resource for localizers tranaslating into English if there was a more complete list available of the most visible/frequently used terms found in the software.
