Your translation work really means a lot to the BuddyPress team and to our users, and sometimes we’re guilty of under-appreciating the time and effort you all put in to making BuddyPress work well in so many languages, so — thank you. 🙂

What can projects like BuddyPress do to help communicate to validators on translate.wordpress.orgtranslate.wordpress.org The platform for contributing to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins. that there are stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. waiting to be validated?

Looking at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/dev, there 11 languages with more than 400 changes waiting to be validated.

I have in the past emailed the validators for each language directly, but this uses up a lot of my time, and I always feel like I’m nagging people.

While I am here, I would like to complement the Turkish translators who I emailed last week and have already got Turkish up from ~30% to 50%, with another 500 strings waiting review — which is a great improvement, and thanks to that team. 🙂

BuddyPress 1.9 was released earlier this week.

Please can the sub-projects on https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/ be updated?

  • Make 1.6.x and 1.7.x non-active
  • Create 1.9.x for the current release and make active

1.8 was never made and I don’t think it’s worth any time or effort to get the 1.8-era translations loaded, unless it’s super-trivial.
