Hi I would gladly help with the arabic…

I would gladly help with the arabic translation on bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress for easily creating forums on sites. https://bbpress.org. and other projects I use heavily, but I see that stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. are not validates here, I already tried to get in touch but couldn’t get answers.

Please advise.

Unhapilly, the arabic efforts are not the most promising, I decided not to participate at any WordPress project at all after seeing that the arabic community forums has:
- Monopoly problems
- Serious disrespect of legal ownership

    Invalidated stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. that exist for months
    
    The Arabic translation is full of obvious mistakes (أضف تعليق, لا يوجد مسودّات, ), probably due to weak revision process (once validated, never revised)
    
    I believe that that, as a validator, the person should aim to build a community of good programmers and linguists that should work together to make WP better, in other communities I’m part of, we hunt for good profiles to help us, we do meetings, we have a clear process on how roles and privileges are granted, you know that if you do this or that X times you will be given/revoked the right to do this or that, if you don’t participate enough, you will be revoked these rights, etc.
    
    Being a validator doesn’t grant a person the rights to link to his/her website in WordPress translations (po) or link –in the wordpress dashboard– to a blog that only he/she publishes on, the current validator forces all Arabic users to see the blog posts he wrote on his blog, the newest one (as comments dates show) was written on october 2010 (I do not question their quality).
    
    As a validator, one should encourage people to fill the Arabic Codex
    
    As a validator, one should update the main WP.og Arabic download page https://ar.wordpress.org/
    
    As a validator, if one praises himself/herself, he/she should praise other participants too
    
    As a validator, one should discourage people from distributing warez on the community website
    
    The community website should not –I believe– be a place for selling all the real estate above the fold (this one is outdated since the community website was updated a few weeks ago).
    
    I want a space ruled by FOSS rules.
    
    If a community using that space doesn’t care, the leader(s) must educate it by spreading the FOSS philosophy troughout his/her/their participation on translations, code, forums posts, meetings, etc.
    
    Unhapilly, the arabic community website is a place for ads, self marketing of the owner efforts, warez and some useful article. Yet, it is not open sourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL. at this time and this is not very welcoming to arabic open source servants.

      I’ve emailed Rasheed personally, alerting him to the the very serious issues, and not only those concerning the validatorValidator See translation editor. acceptance. Running a website billing itself as the “The official arabic translation and technical support for WP” which apparently hosts warez and illegal files is *not* ok, nor is it ok to include links to it in the official translation. Be it as it may, translations are meant to be a collective effort, done by people who can validate each other. Running it alone is neither a good idea nor is it recommended.

      Just about http://wp-ar.com: you have to understand that the site is in no way “official”, the only official one is http://ar.wordpress.org. I’d recommend as step #1 to get in touch with Theme Forest to alert them (I’ll pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” them privately too) and any other theme author who is being ripped off.
      
      If that site is indeed under Rasheed’s supervision (which I can’t tell, because I can’t read Arabic), then this is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with. I’d like to let him have his say on this whole thing first, though.

        Yes, you are right, it’s not official, but on Rasheed blog it’s called “The official arabic translation and technical support for WP”.
        Furthermore, in the admin area of all arabic websites you see this in the footer: “Thank you for using WP arabic” with a link to http://ar-wp.com.
        
        And yes you are right, the site is owned and supervized by Rasheed as seen on his blog and the domain name whois record.
        
        Thank you for your effort, those poor guys should know that their being ripped off on a very popular website! I too started to contact some those themes owners.

    The community owner removed the themes hosted on the community website after my previous report, links to external stolen themes are still there, I suggest those be removed too whether it’s legal or not, this will show good faith that he respects intellectual property.
    
    Anyways, I join my effort to Ze’s and demand an explanation from Rasheed, right here, the earlier the better.

Thanks for turning my attention to this post.
I see a lot of issues raised here. I will address each issue separately to clarify things.

I never said that, on the contrary I always try to encourage people to participate in projects in GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org.. As evidence here is a post I wrote in 2010, in which I explain to people how to use the GlotPress and also writes general guidelines for translation:

So if you define it as a monopoly then you are wrong. Translation in GlotPress is open to everyone, but not everyone qualified to be validator. Validator *must* understand and control both languages as well. Imagine that anyone can be validator, this will lead to a chaos. Do you agree?
2. Regarding the claim “No glossary, only a few discussions about some terms and other discussions asking people to participate without giving them clues but a link to glotpress”:
I’m not going to teach people how to translate. People who do not understand the English language will not be able to translate into Arabic. In the previous link I provided I have explained how to translate and wrote general guidelines to make the translation job easier and accessible for many people as possible.
3. Regarding the claim “Serious disrespect of legal ownership”:
We *DN NOT* host warez and illegal files. Absolutely we will not allow any illegal activity in our forums. Our forum has more than 37000 members and active since 2006. If you find a few violation links, that does not mean we agree with that. I am against any legal violation. As you know, in forums, it is difficult to keep track of all topics and replies. If you find any violation links then please notify me, it will be removed immediately.

Can you give me a permalink for this string?
Please note, I personally check every translated string in detail, I even check the context of the translation to be sure that the translation is right. I do not translate in a superficial way! My translation must be the highest quality! I choose the right words, in the right context, I make sure where to place the point, the comma, the quotation marks. I keep a uniform translation. I constantly correct mistakes if I discover. I say this with full confidence.

Nabil, I am active in WordPress Arabic since 2006 and never seen your contribution.

I never rejected an initiative of someone who wants to help or contribute. You have to understand, I’m validator I’m not Superman. I make every effort to contribute to and promote the subject of WordPress in Arabic because I love WordPress!
As I said earlier, these projects are open to all community, you’re welcome to join us and contribute. If you think you can be a validator and you are willing to contribute and give from your time then you’re welcome. I do not know what monopoly you’re talking about! This is a nonsensical claim!
I want validators with responsibility to be in my team. I have no problem having even a team of 20 validators if we all work in coordination.
The problem in the Arab world is that *people have learned to take and still have not learned to give*. I do not know where are you from, but I know the mentality of the internet Arab users. There are many reports on this subject, you can search Google.

I’m very surprised, where do you see I am linking to my blog? Can you give me a link please?

The Codex is a wiki, meaning anyone can edit it.
Instead of just complaining, have you ever translated a single word in the codex?
I alone can’t educate a nation.

Wordpress-ar is released by me in time since 2006.
I do not have complete control over the site ar.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ so we have ar-wp.com forum where we have more control and flexibility. If you want to add content to ar.wordpress.org you are welcome to do it, just ask Ze fo that.

Where I praise myself?! Can you give a quote or a link?
Don’t you think it’s an infantile claim?

We don’t sell anything. We only sell a few ads to cover the cost of our dedicated server. We do not sell themes or plugins. This claim is false.
Regardless, many people make their living from work related to WordPress, so I don’t understand your point.

I never claimed that ar-wp.com is the official web site of WordPress! It’s a serious distortion and play on words!
In the past a lot of people tend to download Arabic WordPress from various sites on the net where these files contain malicious files, so I say the official Arabic version is here in our forums, when we link in our forums to https://ar.wordpress.org/wordpress-3.5.1-ar.zip
The intention to help people download WordPress from the right place!

I think you need to respect yourself. As a one who is contributing much of his time for many years to WordPress I’m just disgusted to read you describe me as a poor guy.
Who you are and what you contribute to WordPress?
Instead of coming up with constructive criticism, you come to complain and describe us as criminals!
So I ask, before you blame, think of how you can positively help by contributing and donating your time back and check the facts before you post.
Nabil, your negative (and incorrect) feedback is a punch in the gut to the people who are already giving 200%).
Since 2006 no one posted a negative opinion piece, 99.9% of arabic wordpress users appreciate my *proven* contribution to WordPress. You probably reflects the 0.01%
Ze, If you think I’m not fit to be a validator just tell me. I will get up and leave after six years. I’d love to find more time for myself and my family.

I said Rasheed has done a prefect job since 6 years , we do meeting , support , translate , groups , post tickets to the tracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. … etc

I don’t know from where you come from but the Arabian WordPress community is active ! , and we welcome for anyone want to help !

Toattly untruth ! , Rasheed has never post his blog link in the .po filesPO files PO files are human readable files which contain translations we use. These files are not used by WordPress itself. Each language will have its own PO file, for example, for French there would be a fr_FR.po file, for german there would be a de_DE.po, for British English there might be en_GB.po. !!

5 – Regarding the claim

We don’t sell anything in the ar-wp.com , we gave the support , help , and love in our Arabian WordPress community , the main reason because we have a separate website is to give more !

And a lot of WordPress users love that , and try to help us as mush as they can , but It still a little help compared to other communities , because the Arabian people they still learn how to give !

Unhappily I was waiting your contributes to WordPress commenuity in more positive way , but I think that you from who want to show off only , not to help !

I know that you take the maintainership in Arabian Drupal Community , and you try to support it as you can , but don’t think that all communities as yours ,, small ! , Many people contribute to Arabian WordPress even before Rasheed , and we try complete what the previous done , not to flawing !

I would like to point out that I met Rasheed online, he was very friendly and we we resolved all differences.
