Hi,
When can we please have a solution for automatic upgrades not erase the translation of default themes?
This is somewhat embarassing, seems fresh installs are preferred than automatic upgrades.
By erasing I mean that the .po files are missing after one upgrades the themes like Twenty Twelve.
This is another long standing issue
Regards,
Gabriel

Shouldn’t be an issue anymore, see https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/22346

Great news!
Unfortunately I did an automatic update of themes using 3.4.2 so I was not aware of it.

Sorry to inform, but I did an automatic update of themes using 3.5 and the issue still exists.
Directory wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/languages has only twentyeleven.pot

Tell me what you see under /wp-content/languages/themes, please.
If you take a look at the changeset indicated above, you will notice that it will now attempt to load the theme’s .mo from the /wp-content/languages/themes, directory if the file cannot be located in the theme’s folder itself.
