On december 18th we had an IRC meeting. One of the topics discussed was the Global Site idea we talked about during the Summit. After Jane Wells’ comment I had a deeper thought on this and I came up with the idea that this global site should be the make.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ homepage instead and it should be then translated to become the locale.wordpress.org main content, sice at least in Brazil, the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ homepage only use is the download button. Zé liked my idea and we decided to continue discussing it with everybody. I was to write it down here and explain it better. So basically, what I thought was that the make homepage should be more attractive and give more information to people interested in contributing with WordPress. So it should have short introductions to all the actions groups, what they are about, what people do there, who are involved, how to get involved, and the most important link to international groups: it should inform if you’re from XX country/language, who you should be in touch with, etc. I’m working on a draft of how this page should look like to better illustrate my idea.
