Hi Zé, I’ve just completed the Welsh translation on wordpress.org. Assuming you’re vanillalounge over on wordpress.com, is there any chance of you adding me as a Validator on translate.wordpress.com so I can do the same thing over there?
Another quick question: is there a glossary of the English terms used in WordPress out there somewhere? I’ve started my own using the Codex’s Glossary (which doesn’t seem to have been designed to help with localization) as a starting point, but it would be great resource for localizers tranaslating into English if there was a more complete list available of the most visible/frequently used terms found in the software.

As to .com, yes I am and I need your .com username to add you. When you’re set as a validator on .com, remember that it is a good idea to regularly the export strings from .org and import them into .com.
There is no glossary that I know of (some languages prepare their own, but it’s mostly for consistency purposes). However, Andrew’s post (just above yours) might help.

Thanks Zé
Can you also add our main translator as a Validator? His .org username is Gwgan and his .com username is gwgan.

How do you say “All set” in Welsh? Also, how do you say “Welsh users have funky usernames”?

It’s “Popeth yn barod” and “Mae gan ddefnyddwyr Cymraeg enwau ffynci”
(‘w’ and ‘y’ represent vowels in Welsh, whilst the ‘dd’ is the ‘th’ sound found in the English ‘the’).
I realised what you meant by “knock yourself out” last night – there’s another 6707 strings to translate in .com on top of wordpress.org’s strings(!). Gulp.
I figured out that .com’s file also includes the twentyten theme’s strings, so I was able to import our translation of the theme and save some work. Is there a list somewhere of all the other .org language files that are in there – themes, plugins, etc.? We may have translated some of these already.
Thanks again for your help with this

We don’t have a list per se, but at least for themes, it’s simple: they are the ones available under Appearance > Themes in your .com dashboard. Don’t forget to upload Multisite, too.
