WordCamp Base theme page templates
Description: As a result of a talk at the WordPress Community Summit, we’ll be opening up development for the WordCamp Base theme on wordpress.org. Everyone will be able to report bugs and submit patches via Trac, and generally collaborate to improve the theme. For our first order of business, we’d like to create more page templates (schedule, post-event, etc) on the WordCamp Base theme.
Length of project: Phase 1: (1 week) Create a wishlist of page templates, prioritized by ease of production and greatest benefit. Phase 2: (4 weeks) Design and code the templates, and submit them for addition to the WordCamp Base theme.
Experience: Excellent design and development skills. Experience working with the WordCamp Base theme and organizing sanctioned WordCamps.

Nice… i’d like to see an actual GOOD theme that automatically flips the index, on day of event (or per each day) to that days schedule on left column and right column would be a live hashtag stream from twitter and facebook. It would just do it on cron of date when the first day started. Some other ideas I had too but… you’re so busy when planning it’s hard to get volly’s or yourself to edit templates or change stuff night before.

Regarding the automatic schedule – I actually did this in a prototype conference WordPress/BuddyPress theme i’ve been showing off. Would love to share my ideas and my proof of concept (which i’m eventually turning into a WordCamp or companion site).
As for this – not sure what i can contribute (I was going to volunteer for video, but that looks like it’s well packed) here but would like to contribute if possible.

I’m interested in contributing as well. We had some experience with customizing conference-related templates for past Dallas events.

I’d love to help out with design! Not sure I have the bandwidth to do any front-end code, no if someone could chime in there, that would be awesome.

That gives us five weeks. Is there any way we could get the current theme code available?

Xavier, based on what I understood from the summit, the idea is to get the theme into an svn repo that’s publicly available and hook it into trac. JJJ said “let’s do it,” but I’m sure there’s more to it than that. I believe the 5 week timer starts when Andrea posts the subcommittees.

Thanks Brandon, that’s what I understood too.

Sure, I’ll e-mail you the latest theme .zip until we’re working on getting the trac/svn public.

Ok

So, did the theme make it into an SVN repo?

I asked Konstantin about it and it’s indeed available here:
