Event planning training materials
Description: All WordPress events would benefit from an amazing set of templates, checklists, and tutorials. This team will refine the documents WordCamp Central already provides to organizing teams, gather materials already created by WordCamp organizing teams for their own use, assess what other materials are needed for WordCamps and other events, and create whatever isn’t already in existence.
Length of project: Phase 1 (1 week): Create an inventory of currently used materials and make a call for materials from the events community. Phase 2 (2 weeks): Gather and review all materials. Phase 3 (2-4 weeks): Refine and/or combine existing materials and create any new materials needed.
Experience necessary: Great writing and editorial skills. Expertise in organizing WordCamps and other WP events.

And this area is right up my alley.
Would love to help with this. But my WordCamp is Jan 18-20 so I am consumed until after then. When is this project proposed to start?

All of these projects are proposed to start this month. If you don’t think you’ll have time before WCPHX, perhaps you can just focus on creating great documentation in the process of organizing your event, and then provide that to the committee.

Aloha Andrea, I can help reviewing existing docs and making recommendations. I don’t have a lot of time but I can help in a focused effort.

Hi Andrea, I’d be happy to help with this. I was planning on writing due diligence guidelines for WordCamp Toronto. This fits in *very* nicely! /am

The day after the WordPress Community summit, a group of speakers and organizers (and in many cases, people that are both) worked on developing a document that outlines expectations that speakers and organizers have of each other. The document along with a handful of comments are at https://gist.github.com/3955569

That’s a great document, Aaron! That would seem like a fit on on http://plan.wordcamp.org/ I think, maybe from the Speakers page? http://plan.wordcamp.org/planning-details/speakers/

Would like to help with this – have organized a ton of non-WP events and was recently helping a WC do things like create speaker invite templates, etc.

Count me in too. I have pretty good writing/editorial experience, edited my school weekly & annual for 3 years. I Help to organize WordPress meetups in the local WordPress community and nearby towns in my state and perhaps have plenty of time to contribute.
