@otto42: Was there ever any resolution to the issue of plugin search for exact name matches? Search for “contact form 7″ and it’s the 14th result. Is there any way we can improve that for exact text matches?
and there is something wrong with “last updated” date ; I updated my plugin on 30-1-2011 ,for example, but in plugin page “last updated date” is 2010-12-4 …… what’s wrong with it ? See it : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/persian-world/

Errr, no, when I search for “contact form 7″, it comes up as the first result.
Exact name searches get bumped to the top. I put that code in a while back.

piggy backing onto this, can the theme search be looked at as well? eg.
http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/search.php?q=purple+pastels
The theme of that name is last in the list.

Sorry, wasn’t clear. This is when searching via wp-admin. Is it using a different search?
Otto 6:25 am on January 31, 2011 Permalink
Probably. I don’t know how the core searcher works. I’ll look at it.

Yes, when you search from WP-admin I get the same results.
Otto 9:54 am on January 31, 2011 Permalink
Fixed. The exact match search result is now being applied in both cases instead of just the one.

Is there any way to increase the weighting of “relevancy” when sort by is set to “most popular”?
For example searching for “facebook images” Yields #2-4 as: Fast Secure Contact Form, WPTouch & SexyBookmarks.
