Unexpectedly, Google’s Melange site (the app used to maange GSoC and Code-in) has removed all the mentor information from GSoC. Can anyone willing to mentor on a code-in task or two please give me their google ID in the comments? Also, I’ve been hitting repeated server errors trying to get tasks into the system, so it’s taking forever. Hope to have a first round of tasks available for students today (contest opened a couple of hours ago), but in meantime, we can hang out in #wordpress-gsoc to just kids direction if they are ready to start sooner.

Wierd
.
I just logged into Melange and applied to be a WordPress Mentor – similar to what we had to do for GSOC – do you see a request from me?

I can’t tell, I keep hitting the server error. I don’t know if they’re being overwhelmed with traffic or what, but this is super annoying.

I’m in.
I see errors too

Some final, quick ideas:
[Code] – Work through 3.1 milestone bugs, working from top priority through to lower priorities.
Also, not sure what section, but: work through Awaiting Review tickets and triage as necessary.

Melange is down for an hour or so of maintenance due to memory issues. We’ll get in and enter tasks as soon as it is back up.

Can anyone be a mentor? I am very keen on seeing https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/15066 being done.

Mentors will mainly be community members that already contribute a lot as we have a good understanding of there strengths and weaknesses and who is going to be best suited to supporting the participants.

If you want to see it done, I would suggest just writing a patch and uploading it on the ticket. If a regular contributor patches something and it gets committed, we will remove it from the code-in and give the students new tasks.

Melange is back up and we are adding tasks. Regular contributors: if you want to mentor, ping me in irc and give me your google link_id so i can add you and you can add tasks that you can mentor.
