In case anyone missed it, we released Beta 1 last night. Thanks to everyone who has made this possible. Beta 2 sometime next week, maybe, after menus and such are finished. Test, patch, review, etc.

When will it be available through the WordPress 3 update functionality?

I don’t know what you’re asking. You would only be using WordPress 3.0 if you were using SVN or the beta testers plugin. People using the current stable version of WordPress, 2.9.2, will not get WordPress 3.0 via the updater in their current installations until it is actually released, expected to be in May.

It may take a little time for the built-in updater to get you to beta 1 and it will then offer to take you beyond beta 1 as it works using nightly snapshot builds.

Peter, with regards to the beta testers plugin, should it upgrade to the latest nightly build if you click on upgrade from the tools > beta test page?
When I do this, it reverts back to WP 2.9.2
Testing WP3b, Great work so far! Is there a page with the set list of features for the final release? I can’t find one anywhere.

Oh, in case someone wanted a list of features: http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.0

The built-in updater did its thing with the nightly build. Thanks.

Marcus Sykes: You have to configure the plugin to switch to the bleeding edge track first.
