Post-production for videos is taking shape. The first videos with the slides cut-in by WPTV post-production where published this week.

Framing a video to capture the presenter and also get a clear shot of the slides can be a big problem. What tends to happen is the video does not capture either very well. This is distracting and often makes the video difficult to watch and a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. presentation is lost. But if the video concentrates on the presenter then the slides can be added later and having the slides appear in the video makes for a better viewing experience.

This is a simple editing process and can be done by anyone with basic editing skills and it can be taught to anyone that wants to learn some basic editing.

@roseapplemedia and @jerrysarcastic: Any chance the mod squad update and the meeting recap could be combined into one weekly post moving forward? Seems like a natural combination.

  Sure thing. The moderator meetings are less frequent, but can be folded in to the weekly update when they happen.
  
  This has me wondering, though, are we communicating *too much* as mods? On our older P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/. we used to post pretty frequently (3-4 times a week) about issues that would come up in the videos we moderate, but since our move here we have cut back quite a bit.
  
  I want to keep the signal/noise ratio on the main community page sane, so I wish we had a way to post only to the WordPress.tv category page for things that don’t need to go out to the whole community.

    You’re not posting too much, it just seemed like they were a day apart and could be combined topic-wise. Also, it would be good to maybe switch the day so they’re not pubbed on Thursday team meeting) and for 1 or 2 wptv squad people to start attending tho overall team chats on Thursdays in IRC.

Dropping a note here to say that our first “staff picks” post is now published, and WordPress.tv is back in the wp-admin dashboard again. 🙂

    Jerry, I like the Weekly Staff Picks. Should moderators post ‘picks’ here? And maybe a short comment about the video?
    
    If so, I moderated https://wptv.wordpress.com/?p=38716&preview=true This is a short but very good presentation for beginners about using Command Line. It has been a lot of years since I have used Command Line (does anybody remember Xenix?). Good explanation of basic commands and excellent references for beginners to use.

      No that won’t be necessary, and what is most helpful for me is simply adding the “Featured” tag to the video prior to publication. I agree that is a great presentation, and one we should feature anyway.
      
      Once we get under way, we’ll look at the possiblility of doing some more actively curated posts on blog.wordcamp.tv, but for now the Featured tag will be a good place for us to start from. 🙂
