New Mods – Orientation tomorrow!

Howdy new mods, as mentioned earlier this week, we will be doing an orientation in IRC (#wordpress-getinvolved on freenode)�tomorrow at 9AM Pacific. That’s EDIT: 1600 for our friends in Germany! Not sure when that is for you? Click the link in the above announcement to see what time it is in your part of the world.

As preparation, be sure you have watched the video here on how to moderate. We won’t focus on that too much though we will walk through it a bit. We’ll also talk about the following:

• The standards we use for content we publish.
• Approving videos – walk through
• Using tags to communicate with other mods, classify videos, and feature content
• Managing site and theme features on wordpress.tv
• Other moderator tips and tricks

Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” me at jerrysarcastic, or you can email me at jerry [at] automattic [dot] com.
