Hi everyone, with so many moderators going through content at a rapid pace (which is awesome) we have a mounting backlog of videos in our queue. For the time being, @maharzan and I are handling scheduling these videos to publish at regular intervals, with 4 videos a day as our maximum to publish. This works out OK while we are only publishing WC videos, but very soon the possibility exists that we will have many more videos coming in than going out, especially with the public uploader becoming a reality.

So I have to ask the question which others have asked here in the comments: Should we limit ourselves to 4 videos a day, with mods scheduling videos to go out the door? Should we just give all mods the power to publish, and just not worry so much about flooding the internets with awesome content?

What are your thoughts?

If the only issue is flooding with content then that may not be all that bad. The more content the more visitors.

The only concern that I’ve heard about it is flooding the RSS feedRSS Feed RSS is an acronym for Real Simple Syndication which is a type of web feed which allows users to access updates to online content in a standardized, computer-readable format. This is the feed.. I think that most people who subscribe to the feed understand and are capable of handling it – many news and technology sites push out 20 or more items per day to their feeds – looking at my feed list now, I deal with that from LifeHacker and WPDaily every day.

  I’m not sure you could do something with the feed without using a service to handle it, but I think we should limit to a set number a day. This way we don’t get in a habit of publishing 20 videos one day and then 5 the next day.

My feeling is that, as public uploads (presumably) ramp up, there is really little we can do about holding that limit. So our hand may be forced for us at some point.

The other reason that I bring it up is that it would be nice to give mods the ability to publish content immediately, once it’s been moderated and approved. Currently videos tend to stack up for a few days after, while Chandra and I schedule it for publication. I’ll also admit that lately I’ve spent more time scheduling videos than watching them. 🙁

I just finished to upload 16 video of WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Bologna 2013 (8 for designers track and 8 for developers track). In the program page http://2013.bologna.wordcamp.org/programma/ we published all the slide (with slideshare). Now I would like to embed the video for each presentatio. Please let me know when these video will be available.

Perhaps we can just feed WC videos or have a tag or something so only selected posts go on feeds.. If we want to prevent spamming feed subscribers.

  Well, people can (and may already) be subscribed to http://wordpress.tv/category/wordcamptv/feed/ and for them it probably won’t be an issue.
  
  The problem is, for anyone who is subscribed to http://wordpress.tv/feed/ there is little we can do to avoid going over our target of 4/day if we start getting a lot of public submissions. If that ramps up then we will have quite a backlog if we hold to our current limit
