Welcome to the Make WordPress Accessible Team

Hello. You’ve found the blog of the Make WordPress Accessible team – a bunch of volunteers who are striving to improve the accessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). Some of us are techies, some of us are not. But we are united by a desire by see WordPress become accessible to as many people as possible. That’s so important now that WordPress powers over 20% of the world’s websites.

We are currently a small team, and we’re interested in including anyone who’d like to help us work towards our goals. The more of us there are, the more powerful and productive our team becomes – so we’d love to have your input and perspectives.
