IRC Meeting: August 7, 2013

A very busy & productive meeting. We’ve identified two high priority areas that we’d like to focus on in the next couple of months.

The Add Media Panel

Unfortunately, the changed proposed in Trac ticket 23560 didn’t make it into WordPress 3.6 — which is a real shame. However, we’d like to take advantage of this delay by possibly developing an even better solution. @karlgroves will taking a look at this over the next few weeks along with @GrahamArmfield. At some point, they may be looking for feedback from as wide a range of assistive technologyAssistive technology Assistive technology is an umbrella term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities and also includes the process used in selecting, locating, and using them. Assistive technology promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing enhancements to, or changing methods of interacting with, the technology needed to accomplish such tasks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assistive_technology users as possible but we will let you know if/when that occurs. If you would like to register now as a member of our testing team, please let us know.

The Admin User Interface

The MP6 plugin is slated for incorporation in WordPress 3.8 — which will be developed simultaneously with WordPress 3.8. We need to re-check the current version of MP6 and relay any issues back to the relevant development asap. @davidakennedy and @esmi will be taking the lead on this.

Other issues

After about an hour, the MWA team de-camped to join the WP 3.7 initial planning meeting in #wordpress-dev. During this meeting, the team were asked to confirm the recommendations behind the Trac ticket 24766. I’ll be publishing a new post specifically for feedback on this ticket shortly. As always, your comments would be most appreciated.
